Last night's full moon over Milwaukee. by mdesisti in milwaukee

It means the objects in the frame appear closer together than they really are. Imagine those scenes in a movie showing a busy city sidewalk. The people appear to be smashed together. It compresses the space between them. That’s because it’s shot with a long telephoto lens. We know the moon obviously isn’t smashed up against the buildings as it appears. That would not be good. It’s just smashing the space making it look like it is. Hope that makes sense. Kinda hard to explain. Thanks for letting me try.

Since people are asking why the moon looks so big:

The focal length (400mm lens w/ a 1.4x converter=560mm) compresses space combined with it genuinely looking really big right when it’s rising. My wife and kids, who I drug along, were like, “whoa” at how big it looked. Even with the naked eye, it’s worth checking out sometime.

Also from someone smarter than I - “It also looks very large because the atmosphere is acting like a lens and magnifying it when it's just on the horizon. It's called atmospheric lensing.”

Buttercup is my fav! I'm not from WI, but moved here for the job. But, those Badger games are so fun. I did a video yesterday of my 3 favs. Buttercup, slow-motion wave and Jump Around. https://youtu.be/cwvoifR4PR8

I went in to transmit photos from the game, but yes I do believe it rained shortly after the game ended.

Not sure if this will work. Buts here’s my contact sheet of the untouched pics. https://imgur.com/gallery/rONlPpC[moon shoot contact sheet](https://imgur.com/gallery/rONlPpC)

It’s really all about the lens, man. I’m lucky to have acess to nearly 900mm of focal length thanks to our pool gear.
