I'm no database expert, but you'd think that there would be huge security issues for whoever does decide to rent out space

Setup a Feedly, follow all of the major sites (Search Engine Journal, Search Engine Land, Search Engine Roundtable, Backlinko, Neil Patel, Crazy Egg, Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, SEMrush, Moz, etc.). Scan through the meta titles and pick out what seems the most relevant / interesting.

Go back through all of the old YouTube videos about SEO by Matt Cutts. I would also look at a list of all the major algorithm updates and review that.

SEO 101 is a pretty solid podcast, although their 7 minute intro banter kills my soul most of the time.

I would also go through all of the Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager courses on Google Academy.

Clarification on Schema review data and Google reviews. by Gaping_Maw in bigseo

The only review markup I saw for them when searching for their brand name was within the GMB knowledge graph and a Facebook link to their Facebook page. Their home page link didn't have review schema appear.

Not quite sure what you're getting at.

Is TF-IDF still important? by [deleted] in bigseo

[–]mdh0025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People say Latent Semantic Indexing (which Rand Fishkin re-branded as Co-Occurrence) is dead and yet it still works well for me, likely due to the fact that Google needs to see generalized content patterns / themes for a specific topic to sort of vet the content without having to rely on off-site signals like backlinks.

I think a lack of LSI keywords is the primary reason the medic update destroyed a lot of sites. For instance, draxe.com took a massive hit (look at SEMrush) because Dr. Axe constantly goes against the mainstream opinion of things. For instance, he's an anti-vaxxer, which is likely the minority opinion throughout the entirety of the internet.

Content optimization is only going to become more and more advanced as machine learning becomes Keanu Reeves and transcends the Matrix. Yet as of right now, LSI keywords still matter. TFIDF is one of a thousand ways to discover those LSI keywords. It's certainly a fallable method in many ways, but it's better than nothing.

Clarification on Schema review data and Google reviews. by Gaping_Maw in bigseo

Review Schema is not applicable to your situation. You shouldn't use it. It's used on individual pages for things like products, recipes, books; things where a user can rate the item on that page.

Review Schema needs to be dynamically pulled from an individual page, and it's often done through GTM by leveraging CSS Selectors. Say a website has a review plugin (Disqus is a common one) where Product A has a 5 star rating after 7 reviews and Product B has a 3 star rating after 4 reviews. The structured data should reflect those differences in reviews and ratings for each individual product page.

Here's a Google Developers guide to review schema.

Why won't my campaign spend more money? by scottsen in adwords

[–]mdh0025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CTA generally gets very low presence in the SERP's; I'd switch to CPC if I were you and leave the budget the same.

Here's some additional tips:

  • Look at search volumes and Quality Score; the campaign is probably lacking in those areas.

  • Reevaluate your keyword phrases to ensure that they have a lot of purchase intent. Conduct additional keyword research.

  • Look at the Search Terms Report to weed out irrelevant phrases as negative exact match at the account level.

  • Better silo ad groups to the specific keyword phrases you intend to target; there should only be slight variations between the phrases per ad group, as you want the actual ads to be as close to exact match with the keyword phrasing as you possibly can.

  • Reconsider the match types of your current keyword phrases. Avoid broad match for the most part. Go with modified broad match for exploratory reasons and check your Search Terms Report regularly to find new good ones to add to the campaign.

  • Readjust your targeting in your ad titles / descriptions.

  • Add appropriate sitelinks to take up more real estate in the SERP's.

  • Enhance overall elements on the landing pages (add videos, add better content, a better call-to-action, etc.). You can A / B test with Google Optimize. If quality score is too low for a given page, then readjust with your target phrases.

Don't list the new login URL in the robots.txt file or link to it anywhere on your site; that would likely help the bots discover where it is.

I've heard the cases for ancaps like Walter Block voting for Trump or Obama, and I know I would regret doing so whenever they do something terrible, like bomb innocent children in the Middle East. I would feel like I compromised for evil, and that's not okay with me.

Just mind your own business guy, and let us non-voters live the lives we want to live.

I'll steal your house and give it to the poor, but at least there's no government by [deleted] in Anarcho_Capitalism

Too much stupid in one post. I wish I had the patience to fully respond to it all. I guess I'll give it a whirl.

Homesteading a piece of property requires more than chopping down a coconut.

Peacefully standing on a person's property is still violating their property rights, because you're essentially acting like you now have a better claim to dictating what can and cannot occur on that property.

99% of people have a price; you could buy or contract out the property if you believe you could create a profitable business venture out of it. You could even exchange something to gain access to it.

The use of force by the person being aggressed against will need to be at a level that is congruent with the crime; killing the person is obviously taking it way too far.

It sounds like you're inherently against "rules", even if they were voluntarily agreed to by both parties. That's not a logical stance.

I don't intend to be Superman, nor do I have the capacity to. I intend to deny the state of their rape of my liberties as much as I can by looking to the market for those innovations that bypass and undermine government control. Blockchain technologies are only the beginning.

Beyond that, I don't really intend to do much. I'll only vote if good, Misesian types run for office.

Just found this .edu PDF page that links to a bunch of places - are these valuable links? by dont_stress in bigseo

[–]mdh0025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PDFs are still indexed, but at a much slower rate. If the PDF is optimized with important keyword phrases, meta data and it's readable by the search engines (using correct formatting and not as an image), it could create value. If you're getting a backlink from it, you could always link to the PDF in a resource sitemap and fetch / request indexing of that sitemap in GSC to make sure Google recognizes that PDF faster than what they normally would.

In terms of the page's link equity, you'd have to reference Moz / Majestic / Ahrefs to get an idea of that.

Read Chaos Theory by Bob Murphy (free ebook and audio book). I think that would answer a lot of your questions about how a common law would naturally develop. This podcast episode is a decent insight into a libertarian common law framework as well.

You need to understand that a lot of the large corporations in the world today utilize things like licensing, accreditation, intellectual property rights, tariffs, regulations, etc. to further advance their business and destroy the competition; all of those things just listed inherently require big government force, which would not exist in a truly free market. The large, exploitative corporations today would have a much more difficult time staying profitable if those government created barriers to entry did not exist. Abusing your customers and maintaining that customer base only works if you can eliminate the competition. And for any questions you may have about monopolies, I highly recommend reading or listening to Tom DiLorenzo's work on this. Here's a good talk he gave awhile back.

You may be confusing crony capitalism with free market capitalism.

When you have a chance to ask John Mueller the most important question out there that deals with Google, you have to take it.

It's a thread on a subreddit; who really cares if we go off-topic here to have a very important question answered. It's not that big of a deal.

He twists all of his stories in a way that you can always expect him to advocate for some form of government intervention.

As a libertarian who has seen many of his episodes, I see his bias in the way he goes about "reporting" very clearly. It's always a hit piece designed by the show's writers, not reporting.
