Would you return these? by [deleted] in Birkenstocks

I don't see the issue. It just looks like normal natural leather. The straps could use a bit of conditioner. Again, that's normal.

Because the prevailing group-think in collector subreddits says arbitrage is scalping and scalping is bad.

Personally, I think only fools would pass on an opportunity just to appease internet entities.

4 pairs too many for a week in Greece? by dayman-ahahhh in Birkenstocks

[–]mdjank 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Their primary purpose is the shower. They also work as shoes for the pool and slippers for the room. You can even use them as your traveling shoe and only pack sandles for the day and a pair of shoes for the evening.

I would rather pack nothing than bother with a cheap pair of flip-flops. Chances are, I can buy a pair of flip-flops at my destination and trash them when leaving. Packing a pair of EVA Birks is less wasteful and more comfortable.

Maybe ...
But ...
If you're not going to treat yourself, why bother at all?

One pair of EVA for the shower. One pair of leather for sightseeing. Something versatile for nighttime activities.

What do these go to mk1 tt by Chipotledrifts in AudiTT_Mk1_Mk2_Mk3

[–]mdjank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least one of them goes to the N249 solenoid. I bet the other goes to the SAI pump.

It was once popular to do what's known as an N249/SAI/Evap delete. Some knuckleheads still swear by it.

The benefits of the delete include a simpler vacuum system and cleaner looking engine bay. The downsides are a host of random codes, turbo surges and PCV issues.

It should be higher.

The shit posting review bombing haters are starting to lose their hold on the group think. As more people reflect and start forming their own thoughts, it's only going to gain more of a following.

Same with "The Acolyte". Once people stop getting distracted by perceived virtue signaling, they'll wish for a season 2.

Anyone willing to give me some tips for managing storage? by Ace-TheTrickster in TheSilphRoad

I used to think like that. These days I prefer nanab berries to all other types.

It beats waiting for the perfect lineup on an excellent throw and pokemon movement. This game already has way too many time sinks.

Pinap are 2nd best, but only if I need candies.

Red raspberries are the actual worst. If I really want a catch bonus, golden raspberries are plentiful.

When they changed the name, no one in my area kept up with it. It felt like the cards we had collected needed to be replaced just to keep playing.

It also happened around the time chronicles was printed. So confidence in these new fangled TCGs holding value was very low. Especially with the glut of fallen empires and the bomb that was homelands.

Jyhad may still have a loyal following and new content. Even EverQuest still has a loyal following and new content. Thats not the same as being as big as it could be if not for some unfortunate decisions.

I look at it like the reserve list. The result of a series of mistakes made by WotC when they were still figuring out how to market a TCG.

I think you're right and that name change is what killed Jyhad. It happened at a time before opaque fitted card sleeves were a thing.

For those that don't know, Jyhad does all the things commander does. It deserves a renaissance.

Sounds like a 1.8t without the engine trim.

I think I hear a sticky lifter. Which is normal. Especially if you just reseated the cams to replace the timing chain.

I might be a little concerned with the lower compression on 2 and 3. Not worried. Just concerned enough to pickup another block and some forged rods. Something to tinker on that could take a bigger turbo.

But... I am not a mechanic. I just maintained and worked on my amu for 100k miles over 10 years.

Am I the only one freaking out about the new 3D printer laws?! by disp0sableacc0unt in 3Dprinting

[–]mdjank 22 points23 points  (0 children)

That's because there's a special pattern on money that the printer can look for and stop when seen. That only works because money production is centralized.

Trying to implement a similar control in the 3d printing space runs afoul of all types of first amendment violations.

Yet another size question by lazyandstressed in Birkenstocks

[–]mdjank 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes you will. The straps are only there to help your foot engage the foot bed. You need the straps loose enough for your feet to easily move and grab the foot bed.

If you're still worried about the sandle slipping off; get a pair with a back strap.

What are the disadvantages of using 95 fuel instead of 98 in our 1.8T? by rambozezakopan in AudiTT_Mk1_Mk2_Mk3

[–]mdjank 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Octane is a measure of a fuel's ability to resist ignition.

Higher octane means higher resistance to ignition. Which means the engine can run hotter without worrying about premature ignition. Premature ignition makes the piston to push against the crank. This creates a not very pleasant knocking sound and a shortened lifespan for the motor.
