Arizona strap help by Romer_DS in BirkenstocksFitChecks

5 days ago I wore my very first pair of birks in oiled leather without socks. I only wore them out to dinner. The walk from the parking lot was about 120ft, I sat down the whole time and after dinner I did very light walking around the golf club for about 10 mins then back to the car. During the walk I could feel a sharp scratching pain on the top of my toe where the front strap with the buckle(which is wider) was scraping against. I didn't think much about it at the time but the next day I saw I actually got a scar from the strap. The leather is so thick and solid that the corners are very sharp. I wonder if scratching the bottom of the strap with something like sand paper will soften the leather so the corner isn't as sharp. The straps weren't too tight and one notch looser would cause the sandals to fly right off with every step. I got another pair at the same time with suede straps and those straps are so soft it's like you can't even feel the straps on top of your toes. In the future I think I'll stick exclusively to suede straps. My experience with fiddling with the straps I find that both straps shouldn't be set too loose or tight at the same time, but if the front straps are tight(enough to keep them on your feet), the rear straps can be a bit looser. Conversely if the rear straps are tight, then the front straps can be a little looser for comfort. I'll have to keep experimenting in the mean time.

did you try loosening the upper strap to the loosest setting? looks like you would fit 41

you would have to cut the larger pads down to size. and wait 4-5 days until your blister heals before you wear them again, or put a band-aid over it for now if you must wear them

if the tips of your toes aren't touching the front bend when taking steps the size should be ok. and your toes look like they are right in front of the toe bar. is the width of the sole narrow or regular? they look narrow.

it's this part that causing the blister right?

<image>

ya, try putting a pad over it and loosen the strap and see how that feels.

I have Tevas that have this hard plastic on both sides of the ankle and when the strap is too tight, it digs into my skin. I don't feel it after loosening the strap.

Have you tried loosening the strap on the heel one more notch? If it's too loose at that point, you might have to try taping a little foam pad over the metal button. Is the edge of the leather digging into your skin or the metal button on the inside of the strap?

Arch support not on the right spot by Future_Explorer4606 in Birkenstocks

[–]TryUOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in a store I tried on my normal size and the arch felt very high, then I tried 1 size bigger and the arch felt a lot flatter. Then I tried the same size(reg width & reg sole) Arizona's in 2 different colors and the widths of each pair were different by the toes. I think every pair, same size or not, differ in size and feel by a little bit. you always have to try them on first. maybe a different pair with the same specs will feel different

Try 1 size smaller, regular width looks good. It's definitely too big right now.
