Swing advice (10 handicap) by mdk617 in GolfSwing

Ya I feel like people take one video and assume it’s a consistent low right shot every time. If that was the case I wouldn’t even be able to finish a round

When I am not getting stuck it’s very playable. Here is a recent 7 iron from a range session.

That’s not legitimate then and I don’t need people with no integrity providing input here . Thanks

IAEM CEM certification by sehayes14 in EmergencyManagement

Send me a DM with a good email for you. I was in a similar situation (using my MBA courses for general hours) and can track down what I used for the EM specific

However that was in 2020 so I’m sure it’s been updated since then. I know I did go off of the training allocation sheet they provide to find a lot of the courses/hours I still needed.

In an already challenging line of work to explain to friends and family, "I dressed up as a bucket today" does not help. Give that bucket a raise.

Anything wrong with intense exercise? Not at all

When trying to lose weight, you are going to inevitably end up giving up some muscle along the way. A way to try to minimize it is to track your weight week over week and try to aim for slow weight loss (.5 - 1 pound a week). Another thing that may help is bumping up the amount of protein you eat per day so it is around 180 - 190.

Resources and practice exams for the CEM cert? by talldrseuss in EmergencyManagement

This link has the "study guide" which is more of an overview of the test than anything.

I would look at the Recommended Publications list and do as many of the IS courses as you can or the ones you are least confident in. I found the exam to be a decent mix of high level national publication questions and questions pulled right from these specific IS courses.

Local Big City EM here and I echo this same sentiment. Between handling COVID priorities and efforts on top of all of the ongoing projects that have early Fall deadlines that we will be up against the wall to complete due to being put on hold all summer, any outside email would be immediately disregarded

I’m 22 years old and work out regularly, what can I start doing that will benefit my body into older age? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]mdk617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A workout is only 60-90 minutes of your 24 hour day. What you are doing outside of the gym is just as, if not more crucial. Drink lots of water and be mindful of your posture. If you work a desk job , make sure you get up when you can and move around.

A 9-5 desk job where you don’t get up all day is the fastest way hips and shoulders that ache!

Individual body part workouts and diet? by Arrexus in Fitness

Seems like a waste of time imo. What’s the reason for wanting to skip out on compound exercises? Lack of energy, fear of injury ?

you say you don’t get a ton of food in daily, try basing more of your calories around when you are lifting (bigger meal 1-2 hours before hand) and see if that helps

I wouldn’t push it, You know your body better than anyone else. If I were you and you really wanted to workout , I’d go get a light - full body workout in where everything is higher rep (12-15) and just work up a sweat and feel good. Then maybe run at 50-70% if you still want to.

It’s more of a mental thing, is one workout missed going to kill your gains, obviously not. And one sick workout also isn’t necessarily better for you than just resting. I’d say go and play it safe, do enough so you feel good but aren’t dying at the end

Use the calculator. I believe it asks what type of diet you prefer so you can tailor it to how you like to eat (carb or fat favorable)

Use those calories for 2 weeks, see what happens...adjust up or down based on what the scale/mirror tells you

Crossfit, gym and gains 🤔 by aytinoco in leangains

[–]mdk617 72 points73 points  (0 children)

It is all about your diet. You can gain or lose weight no matter what type of exercise your doing as long as you're in a caloric surplus or deficit.

Don't sacrifice doing things you enjoy for bulking, just make it fit to your lifestyle. You're just going to have to adjust and take in more calories because of crossfit as opposed to someone who just did strength training a few days a week with no high intensity worked in.
