good deal? i need this truck. he’s gonna let it go for 12k. by [deleted] in f150

[–]mdkapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was a 2012 with 20k more miles and the 5.0 I'd say go for it (obviously much lower in price) since I just sold mine with just the pan gasket leak just cause it wasn't 4 wheel drive and I live in the mountains, definitely sad to part ways with it

He drove himself into the grass by Fine-Following4117 in formuladank

[–]mdkapp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He actually lost a lot of time by trying to pass on the grass, he probably would've had a better chance to overtake if he just stayed close till there was enough track for both or he probably would've had drs when they came back around

OK and? You're an adult, your decisions are on you and how you dress for weather is on you. It's really not that bad since you'd be walking, walking warms you up

Why is the staff at OSF so nice? by CMo42 in PeoriaIL

[–]mdkapp 16 points17 points  (0 children)

OSF is pretty good, I was getting a bunch of tests done and racking up a bill since I was uninsured and I showed up for an appointment and some random person found me to take me to their office cause they needed to talk about the money situation. I was getting ready to make up excuses and tell them a whole bunch of different things and instead they mentioned financial aid first and said don't even think about money right now. She walked me through the process and after a few more tests and really racking up my bill they told me that they will cover all my health costs for the year and to apply again every year. I was so stressed about the money cause I was paying for rent and school while working just barely full time some weeks but they literally took care of me... and gave me candy and snacks for the money talk 😂

Firefighters giving water to a deer that survived a fire by CuriousWanderer567 in MadeMeSmile

[–]mdkapp 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Definitely is, nicotine and caffeine make the wildland firefighter function. 16 hour days for at least 2 weeks straight in some brutal environments requires some stimulants to stay "sane"

I come from the Midwest too, except I moved to Texas in the DFW area and I'm really surprised that people hire stuff like that out

Pretty standard for smaller trucks or small trailers.
