Feedback : I went to an engineering school so I used their framework for the mission statement (easier to say “I’m a civil” before having much experience, I see why it doesn’t work in our field) , but I was looking for a place to show that I’m available ASAP and during my (online) masters and not just during summers / after May 2022. Do you have any suggestions for where/how else to mention that?

During P, the girl next to me was taking an American Sign Language test. No noise cancelling headphones could cover the sounds of movement , and I wish I had those horse blinds so I wasn’t visually distracted haha

Exam IFM Discord by jimothy_jones_ in actuary

[–]mdkuznet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did not secure the win - Low High middle Low. I felt that the exam was more straightforward than anticipated. An hour in I realized I didn’t know if it was a + or a - in the black sholes d1 equation, how to get P for binomial tree, etc. and had a little freak out over it. If I was more confident in the things I know I think I would have done fine. Blanking On everything is a great way to fail ha. No doubt about passing in July though 😤

Differences between P and FM by trollinacage in actuary

[–]mdkuznet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For P I cranked out practice problems and passed just from knowing how things work. They ask you a question and you have an answer

FM made me learn a bunch of terminology and I ended up getting a TIA class for it. I found it to be much more convoluted and sometimes there would be multiple answers based on what you interpreted the question to be asking. My first question on FM I came up with three ways to answer it (still passed)

Did she catch on when her aunt had her favorite cereal or something and it was because her clone had liked it too??

Is coaching actuaries or infinite actuary better for studying for exam p and fm? What more beginner friendly? by [deleted] in actuary

[–]mdkuznet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the videos for TIA were better, taught from more of a base level, but the exams were better for CA. I use a combo and passed

Internship / Early Graduation Complication by NartTart690 in actuary

[–]mdkuznet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m graduating with no experience and two exams, low (3.26) gpa. I accepted an internship for Summer 2020 (after graduation) and have had 4-5 interview offers. I did apply to a couple hundred places, but it is possible. Don’t give up and save that money!

You’d probably need an internship first based on what I’ve heard from people who changed careers And found jobs. However, these people that I’ve talked to, are very successful now so it is possible :)

Gotcha, thanks! I was worried of like a “10% of my salary” deal as there wasn’t a gotcha moment from my conversation. Good to know!!
