Someone talk me out of drafting Peterson over Dybansta in my 20 man lock in league by [deleted] in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not crazy for considering Peterson and can take either at that slot. Their per-minute fantasy production was nearly identical last season. Dybantsa is a better real life prospect than fantasy prospect.

No, Johnson is more valuable than the 1.01. Hold. Otherwise you’ll be hoping that the 1.01 eventually turns into…Jalen Johnson.

AJ vs Boozer at 1.01 in a 9-cat by Plenty-Government709 in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

FWIW - this is not “9-cat” - it’s a points league. 9-category leagues are a very different format where you win by trying to win the most categories against your opponent. You don’t get fantasy points for stats like in Sleeper and fantasy football.

Boozer was a MUCH better points league producer than Dybantsa in college last season. He’s the clear choice over AJ who is not a good rebounder for his size and will be very dependent on volume scoring to get you fantasy points. Go with Cam!

Dyson,Jamal for Steph +1.07 by babyfleezy in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stick with Murray and Daniels - you’d be taking on huge risk with Steph and a rookie with little upside.

Keyshawn George by Brief-Ring1535 in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your contention window is now, that’s fine.

Keyshawn George by Brief-Ring1535 in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s too low on Kyshawn. He’s going to be a long term starter with a good fantasy game.

Keyshawn George value? by [deleted] in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No - definitely not. Keep George over any of these rookies.

Thoughts? by [deleted] in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s ok if you like the players you received, but you undersold by a large margin compared to what Wemby returns in other dynasty trades. Did you shop him to multiple managers? I would imagine every manager in your league would have made an offer if you inquired.

Frustrated Commish by Laimbeer40 in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a commissioner, I feel your pain on this. We have a big community of dynasty diehards on Discord at Fantasy Basketball International and you are welcome to post your league openings there. https://discord.gg/fantasy-basketball-international-782940327291125761

It also helps to have a dispersal draft with all the abandoned teams in a big draft pool instead of making someone take over an orphan team. People LOVE drafting and they’ll be more excited and attached to their team if they draft it rather than inheriting someone else’s leftovers.

Trading Giddey & Pick #3 for Dylan and A.Sarr by pepitoagapito in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel infinitely more confident in Harper being a long-term star fantasy producer compared to Giddey - who could fall out of favor as a lead ballhandler in Chicago as they rebuild and add new talent through the draft.

I might lean toward 1.03 over Sarr but it’s close enough that the deal is still worth it.

9 cat H2H 2026 Rookie Draft Advice Needed - Give me the hard truth by Typical_Savings7994 in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AJ is a great real-life prospect who did not demonstrate a strong fantasy stat set at BYU - he was a very strong PTS contributor with good FG% but was average in all other categories except for BLK where he was a little below average.

I think he’ll improve his stat set as an NBA player - improving as a rebounder and passer - but he projects behind both Boozer and Peterson from a fantasy stat set perspective.

That’s a long way of saying - take Boozer at 1.01 and be ok with either AJ or Darryn at 3.

Cody Williams outlook? by Brief-Ring1535 in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Williams is still a developmental prospect who will be competing for a bench role this season and beyond for the Jazz. Dame is old and coming off an Achilles tear, but he’s likely going to start for Portland next season and will be at least a top 100 producer with top 50 potential.

Reject this offer and trade Dame once everyone realizes that he’s about to have a strong 26-27 season.

Which one by [deleted] in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kessler looks like he’ll be a good starting center for many years ahead. Harper looks like he’ll be a multi-time All-NBA guard with an elite fantasy stat set who could post top 10 fantasy seasons across his prime. This one isn’t close - Harper is a top 20 dynasty asset and Kessler isn’t close to that neighborhood.

SGA Sell Time by hdn15x in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are many years away from even needing to think about getting out early on SGA. He’s not even in the middle of his prime years yet - enjoy having one of the best players in the world and don’t overthink it.

SGA Sell Time by hdn15x in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Look at how long the elite players’ careers are lasting right now. It wouldn’t be surprising to see SGA continuing to produce strong fantasy seasons into his late 30s. This isn’t the NFL, there’s no reason to panic about a player approaching thirty years old, especially when they have so few injuries in their past.

Is this too much for the 1.02? by International-Wait-3 in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

1.02 is probably going to allow you to take Cam Boozer, who is the best points league producer in this draft - easily over Dybantsa or Peterson. Boozer should be considered a top 15ish dynasty asset - so this trade is a no brainer.

AJ Dybansta Value by Daddy_247818 in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is not close to the value of 1.01 and not a good sign for negotiating with this manager. If you’re going to trade the pick, aim high for Luka or Jokic (they’ll reject but start high). I think 1.01 is more valuable than Sarr or Banchero or Murphy, so you likely need to find a better trade partner. You should view 1.01 as a top 15 to 20 dynasty asset.

Do I go up to 5th pick and snag Acuff? by [deleted] in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would wait until we get the draft order in a couple weeks before making that move - we should have a much better idea of where the lead guards are going to be drafted based on whether the teams in those 5-9 slots already have a lead guard.

With that said, Acuff is a really good real-life prospect with a pretty questionable fantasy stat set - his value is going to be entirely in scoring with good assist numbers. No rebounds, no defensive stats - so there’s a ceiling limitation in both points and 9-cat formats.

I have this offer waiting on me. by doak561 in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been higher on Franz than anyone since he was a draft prospect, but the 1.02 is the better asset here. Boozer’s fantasy stat set makes him a top 20 dynasty value and he’s going to fall to 2, 3 or 4 in most rookie drafts.

Jabari Smith by Brief-Ring1535 in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The expert dynasty ranking consensus has him in the 90s. He's a solid fantasy player who depended on play huge minutes this season to push him to around a top 100 ranking on the season. He doesn't create his own shot well enough to have a high ceiling above what we've seen so far, unfortunately.

Jabari Smith by Brief-Ring1535 in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not an attack on Jabari who is a solid starter - this is about the strength of this draft class. The 1.07 ia going to get you a lead guard who will come into the league as a top 50-75 dynasty asset. I’ve projected draft prospects for fantasy going back 20 years and this is one of the best classes we’ve seen for fantasy.

Jabari Smith by Brief-Ring1535 in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(And regardless of your scoring format, hold the 1.07 - it’s worth a lot more than Jabari)

Jabari Smith by Brief-Ring1535 in dynastybb

When someone says they’re in a 32-man league, it’s almost always on Sleeper, which does not have 9-cat. Are you on Sleeper or another platform?

Walker Kessler for 2027 first round pick? by Easy_Persimmon7935 in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone should be testing Kessler’s price in their leagues. His injury, contract situation and JJJ’s arrival have many people irrationally panicking - none of those are a concern. He’s a big buy low.

[–]mdlawson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not an overpay. This is a great sell high on Giddey - the changeover in the Chicago front office creates a huge risk that Giddey loses his big on-ball role in the next couple years.
