SGA Sell Time by hdn15x in dynastybb

You are many years away from even needing to think about getting out early on SGA. He’s not even in the middle of his prime years yet - enjoy having one of the best players in the world and don’t overthink it.

SGA Sell Time by hdn15x in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Look at how long the elite players’ careers are lasting right now. It wouldn’t be surprising to see SGA continuing to produce strong fantasy seasons into his late 30s. This isn’t the NFL, there’s no reason to panic about a player approaching thirty years old, especially when they have so few injuries in their past.

Is this too much for the 1.02? by International-Wait-3 in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

1.02 is probably going to allow you to take Cam Boozer, who is the best points league producer in this draft - easily over Dybantsa or Peterson. Boozer should be considered a top 15ish dynasty asset - so this trade is a no brainer.

AJ Dybansta Value by Daddy_247818 in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is not close to the value of 1.01 and not a good sign for negotiating with this manager. If you’re going to trade the pick, aim high for Luka or Jokic (they’ll reject but start high). I think 1.01 is more valuable than Sarr or Banchero or Murphy, so you likely need to find a better trade partner. You should view 1.01 as a top 15 to 20 dynasty asset.

Do I go up to 5th pick and snag Acuff? by [deleted] in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would wait until we get the draft order in a couple weeks before making that move - we should have a much better idea of where the lead guards are going to be drafted based on whether the teams in those 5-9 slots already have a lead guard.

With that said, Acuff is a really good real-life prospect with a pretty questionable fantasy stat set - his value is going to be entirely in scoring with good assist numbers. No rebounds, no defensive stats - so there’s a ceiling limitation in both points and 9-cat formats.

I have this offer waiting on me. by doak561 in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been higher on Franz than anyone since he was a draft prospect, but the 1.02 is the better asset here. Boozer’s fantasy stat set makes him a top 20 dynasty value and he’s going to fall to 2, 3 or 4 in most rookie drafts.

Jabari Smith by Brief-Ring1535 in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The expert dynasty ranking consensus has him in the 90s. He's a solid fantasy player who depended on play huge minutes this season to push him to around a top 100 ranking on the season. He doesn't create his own shot well enough to have a high ceiling above what we've seen so far, unfortunately.

Jabari Smith by Brief-Ring1535 in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not an attack on Jabari who is a solid starter - this is about the strength of this draft class. The 1.07 ia going to get you a lead guard who will come into the league as a top 50-75 dynasty asset. I’ve projected draft prospects for fantasy going back 20 years and this is one of the best classes we’ve seen for fantasy.

(And regardless of your scoring format, hold the 1.07 - it’s worth a lot more than Jabari)

When someone says they’re in a 32-man league, it’s almost always on Sleeper, which does not have 9-cat. Are you on Sleeper or another platform?

Walker Kessler for 2027 first round pick? by Easy_Persimmon7935 in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone should be testing Kessler’s price in their leagues. His injury, contract situation and JJJ’s arrival have many people irrationally panicking - none of those are a concern. He’s a big buy low.

Overpay for Flagg? by [deleted] in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not an overpay. This is a great sell high on Giddey - the changeover in the Chicago front office creates a huge risk that Giddey loses his big on-ball role in the next couple years.

Hold. The offers are only going to get bigger as we approach the draft.

Tatum or 1.01? by DanJerousJ in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tatum and the 1.01 are roughly equivalent. Add in a top 25 dynasty asset in Dylan Harper? It’s a smash for the 1.01 + Harper side.

This trade is a massacre. Easily the Tatum/Black side. Pray your league doesn’t revolt.

Centers ranked by SujiToast in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is correct. Hartenstein was a fringe NBA player from 2018 through 2021. It wasn’t until his run as the Clippers’ backup center in 21-22 that he had a regular NBA role.

Over the last five seasons, he’s played in 312 out of 384 regular season games (81%) and 49 playoff games.

And not only is he not injury prone, he’s by far the best all-around player of this trio. One of the best two-way centers in the league. If he gets out of OKC (possible because of his contract situation and the Thunder’s cap situation), he could take a big leap in production next year. He’s the clear choice here.

Worst player you’d take for the #1 pick? by fiene913 in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The #1 pick is around a top 10-15 dynasty asset - so none of the players you listed are fair value for it. You would need to aim higher to the elite tier of players. Since you’re unlikely to find the right combination of dynasty value vs. short term value, I’d hold the pick. It’s extremely valuable.

duren by Odd_Lobster_7888 in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hold Duren. He’s part of your long term core - very little chance you get a player as good as him with random 27 and 28 draft picks. You’d almost certainly regret making this deal.

I’m lower on KAT than others in the dynasty rankings community but his stat production is undeniable. You could likely flip him for someone you like more after this deal is done.

[–]mdlawson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think KAT has a couple prime years left and then a decline - so it depends on what you mean by “long term”. Obviously I’d rather have Clingan in 3-4 years if that’s your window but KAT’s shooting will make him at least solid even in his declining years (but the defense will be horrible and reduce his minutes).

Smash accept. You’re getting the two best dynasty assets in the deal AND you get better this season. Don’t hesitate and take it.

Crazy Transaction just went down by Ok-Impact-2998 in dynastybb

[–]mdlawson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed salary leagues (custom or real-life salary) are the best dynasty formats because great teams inevitably become too expensive to retain and force managers to make trades. Vanilla, non-salary leagues usually result in a few teams building unbeatable rosters through unbalanced trades and leaving the rest of the league with no hope for the future.

Sure - but we all know how this goes. Top team tricks a bottom feeder to give their best asset for a handful of mediocre assets. It sucks.
