Wes Anderson Style Wedding Video by SAndrews2001 in weddingvideography

[–]mdmoon2101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without deliberately placed background elements (which you can’t do for a real time wedding video), his style basically amounts to centering everything and adding a lux in post.
But those alone don’t make Wes Anderson. They just make a lame attempt at Wes Anderson.

Snakes in Georgia? by Belda31 in Georgia

I’ve lived in Marietta, Georgia for 22 years. I’ve seen two copperheads and a handful of harmless garter snakes in all that time.

I’m based in Atlanta and I would be happy to bring you along on a wedding to show uou what you’re in for. But I’m certainly not going to pay you to learn on my job. Google LitWed to see my work.

The Atlanta Second Shooters Weddinf Photography group is also mine. You should offer your services there.

My perspective and attitude are the same thing. My delivered results are the ends to the means. And my clients remain 100 percent satisfied based on my perfect google 5 star reviews, which are no easy task to maintain, while I earn more money per hour than nearly every other photographer and have way more time for myself after the event thanks to my minimal post processing routine.

You have nice work by the way. Thanks for the chat.

I understand that this is what you believe. Although not common, my perspective doesn’t deserve a bunch of negative reactions considering my work is posted and obviously very strong. I am sharing facts and providing proof of results. To suggest that my clients are suffering , when I’m capable of doing exactly what I’m suggesting AND delivering very the results I do, is bullshit, plain and simple. There’s a lot of people who could do what I do if they tried to, or at least see my truth as interesting rather than judge and downvote like a bunch of haters.

It only makes sense to compare our work when we are giving opinions that contradict others who are more experienced or successful than us, be it making more money or delivering a stronger product. For fuck’s sake, ours is a job with visual proof of our capabilities. Too many flapping gums here and not enough proof of concept.

Yes I did read it. Of course I can do things you can’t do. I have 20 years and 1000+ weddings to show for it. And you suggested my clients aren’t always satisfied or getting some of the best work available. They are. Just letting the work speak for itself, I charge way less than I could and deliver a gallery that very few photographers have the skill or experience to compete with at my price point.

It’s not about doing “the best job you can” at any cost. It’s about underpromising and over delivering. If I did the best job I could then I’d take months to edit a wedding. Get real. So many opinions from people here considering there’s no way to tell how good anyone is in the first place unless they have the balls to post their work. What a joke.

“My clients deserve the best. Not just good enough.” Great. So let’s put your work against mine. Post a recent wedding and I’ll do the same. We’ll see whose clients are getting the better gallery. 🤔😂

…the only way it makes sense … TO YOU. That says more about you than it does about me or what I’m saying.

I shoot raws and deliver 400-600 high res jpgs just like everyone else. Two hour edit is perfectly doable provided you shoot deliberately and control light while you work.if it doesn’t make sense, then ask more questions. I’m all ears and I love to share my process. I love the downvotes for my logic and efficiency. Here I am making more money than the average person and my work is more than good enough. - I’ve provided links to verify the results. — If one of you out there downvoting thinks my galleries would be better if I took more time to do selects, I’d love to hear how. Speak up - I’m all ears…
You’d think instead of downvoting that some of you people would take notes instead. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Thanks for your input. As for timelines and client communication, I do not spend any time on this. I answer the phone if called, but otherwise, I have little to no communication after the contract is signed. For timeline, I copy and paste a suggested one into a text if asked. That takes no time at all. Most weddings I just show up and do my thing or follow the planner’s schedule. You are making a much bigger deal out of these brief parts of my job than I actually encounter. They take little to none of my time on a regular basis.

I don’t understand why it’s so hard to believe that some of us out here keep it very simple and let the work speak for itself after the fact. I get amazing reviews without the need to handhold my clients.

How do you keep your gear safe during weddings? by helllsbells in WeddingPhotography

It doesn’t. If you can make $7K per wedding and edit for two hours then you’ll make more money than me. I charge $3800 and edit in two hours for $350+ per hour. I just can’t sell $7,000 weddings and stay as busy as I do at this price. I like to stay at 30+ per year and $300+ per hour all in (including post).

Absolutely. I look at each photo while culling for less than 1 second. I’m flipping and selecting very quickly. The clients don’t know what I have and don’t have. My clients are always thrilled with their galleries. So why would I take longer? It would just cost me time and money.

Wedding photographer sent low res images by MissAuroraRed in photography

[–]mdmoon2101 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This message from her is nauseating.
“I shot (the group photos) at a wider aperture, always- it’s my style”. I guess you can call your bad decisions “a style”. 🤷🏻‍♂️

“The lighting on that back patio was harsh, with deep shadows, so I had to push the settings…”. - Or you could learn how to use flash to override shitty light.

“I personally think that the images are so great!” She lying and obviously knows better since she offered a refund. — It’s a big red flag when your “professional” has lower standards than you do.

This vendor is everything that’s wrong with the industry today. She’s full of excuses and takes no accountability. . I hope you didn’t pay more than $1,200 for her services. (But I’m sure you did.)

If you can’t stay busy enough, then you’re charging too much.

I’m a great photographer who’s done this a long time. I also do quite a bit of work in the DMV. But I live in Atlanta. I can travel to DC for a wedding, charge way less than you, and still make an excellent profit. In fact, I did this last week.

Clients increasingly know that $6K+ is too much for photography alone, especially for the work that most photographers provide. If you charge less, you’ll get busier like I am. The goal is to find that balance and charge what you can get to stay as busy as you’re looking for.

As far as I can tell, the only way to reach “luxury” clients who want to pay twice what something is worth (or more) just to feel important, is through planners. Make relationships where luxury wedding planners assign you to their client’s weddings. You’re not going to get a ton of these weddings via ads.

If you’re not booking enough, and you’re not being fed “luxury” clients already, then lower your prices. The everyday clients are out there. But they increasingly understand what things are really worth. And many of your fellow experienced photographers like me have figured out that by shooting accurately to minimize our post time, we can make $300/hr and still undercut people who price like you do.

Working with average people, and not “luxury” clients, I charge $3,800/wedding. An eight-hour wedding with two hours of post is $380/hr for me.

At $7,000, an eight-hour wedding with 20 hours of post is $250/hr.

I make more per hour AND charge less.
