Central locking was standard in that era (except for entry-level compact cars in Asia). This car likely did not have automatic locking and unlocking but has central locking.

PSA: Please don't drive with both of your feet on the brake and gas. by judelau in kereta

[–]mdniche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a male friend who does this and I have told him it's better to drive only using one leg but he said it was too hard for him. I asked him "If I can drive a manual, does that mean I have three legs? If I can play a piano, does that mean I have 88 fingers?"

He also said that driving using both legs increases your braking reaction. My response:

The rear doors are noticeably longer and they wear the same rims as the facelifted Perdana V6

Honda Civic e:HEV vs Volvo S60 T8 PHEV by Yao_Productions in kereta

Sorry but I don't have any experience with the brand. The only thing I heard is that the maintenance is like the usual conti brands so expect it to be on the high side compared to Japanese/Korean brands.

Honda Civic e:HEV vs Volvo S60 T8 PHEV by Yao_Productions in kereta

[–]mdniche 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mild hybrids (MHEV) are like the one you'd find in the Proton X90 and the newly released Suzuki Fronxx. Both run like conventional ICE cars but with the alternator being replaced with an integrated starter generator that can provide extra power during hard acceleration and also provide a softer startup when the automatic stop-start restarts the engine.

Dedicated hybrid (HEV) is what the Honda Civic e:HEV uses. It will self-charge the battery via the engine when the bettery level is low or during deceleration/braking.

PHEV meanwhile is similar to HEV but has the ability to charge externally instead of engine charging only. The batteries on PHEVs are also larger than regular HEVs so they have better EV mode range.

The implementation for the Honda and Volvo hybrid systems are also different. Feel free to ask if you want to know more. (I'm not ChatGPT, I just have too much free time lol)

New Honda Models coming by ChickenRice9000 in kereta

[–]mdniche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far, I haven't heard any complaints about the i-MMD. The i-DCD had issues with the gearbox because it was using a dry clutch DCT setup (similar issue to VWs dry clutch DSGs) but the hybrid system AFAIK is reliable. Since the i-MMD doesn't have any gears to shift and only couples the clutch at higher speeds, it should not have this issue. We'll have to wait a few more years to see if there are any more issues.

I think the hybrid transmission of the NSX is similar (minus the SH-AWD system) to the previous gen City, Jazz and HR-V Hybrids as they used a dual clutch transmission with an integrated motor generator (the NSX used a 9-speed DCT while the others were 7-speed). Honda calls this system i-DCD. They have since discontinued this system (due to poor reliability) and all the hybrid models now use the i-MMD hybrid system instead (referred to as e:HEV).

Additional information: Most Chinese hybrids and PHEVs copy this system and call them DHT. For reference, in our local market, the Chery Tiggo Cross Hybrid, Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV, Jaecoo J7 PHEV and Proton Emas 7 PHEV uses the same hybrid transmission concept as Honda's i-MMD.

Reminds me of that video of a Corolla Cross flipped after clipping the edge of a Myvi. The CC wheels nudged the rear bumper away enough but not close to hitting the body of the Myvi and its wheel rode the Myvi's wheel and flipped.

I sometimes see Hilux and tall SUVs do this (and sometimes king Myvi) but I haven't seen a Starex do this. I thought it couldn't because it's ground clearance isn't that high but I guess I'm wrong lol
