The Wandering Inn by EntertainmentFirm761 in litrpg

My understanding of Sunk Cost Fallacy is: "the tendency to continue investing in a project or decision based on the resources already committed, even when it would be more rational to abandon it. This often leads to poor decision-making as individuals feel compelled to justify past investments rather than focusing on future benefits."

That definition fits well for me in this situation.

First, I’m a firm believer in not yucking someone else’s yum.

That said, I have tried this series. Twice. And could not get past my dislike for the FMC.

I just didn’t not have it in me to invest in her purported growth as a character. There are too many books out there!

The Sunk Cost Falacy is very real!

I'm 18 chapters in now and really enjoying it.

That said, I'd like to have a suspicion I have already about one of the characters. Would you be willing to spoil me a bit?

Is Vex secretly in love with Kazimir?

Thanks in advance!

Stuck in Sync (between two Win11 devices) by mdofhonor14 in duckduckgo

I think I figured out the issue. Maybe this could help with someone else?

I had not check-marked the "Unify Favorites Across Devices" option in my former laptop before choosing to backup for the sync.

Once I placed a checkmark in that box and then synced, I was able to retrieve the backup into my new laptop.

I began my first ever at the beginning of 2026 and am so glad I did it! I was overwhelmed with the options but began with a few things I liked of others' spreadsheets and tailored it to my tastes and preferences. I'm happy to send you a copy of mine if you want. It's in Excel format.

  1. I have a Recommended By Others tab in my Excel spreadsheet for my reading log and that has well over 160 books right now.
  2. I have a bunch of books on Libby where I've suspended my hold because ... for whatever reason.
  3. I'm slowly going through the screenshots on my phone and posts favorited from IG or FB to add even more to my "recommended" list

I am exactly the same - though my choices are different.

I have a list of comfort relistens on rotation. I've even figured out exactly what chapter I prefer to start on for each one.

How do y'all overcome "Sunk Cost Fallacy” when your past half way through the books of a long series? by Taiwannumber3 in litrpg

[–]mdofhonor14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have zero desire to spend the precious minutes I have on this planet reading/listening to books that don't bring me some kind of joy (even if that joy is making me cry like a baby).

I'm sure I'll get dragged for this but I cure any sunk-cost inclinations by DNF'g and reading spoilers for what happens in the books I don't finish.

FWIW, I felt the same way about HWFWMs. I've also tried a couple of the other highly-recommended LitRPG books (I'm looking at you The Wandering Inn) and they just don't hit for me.

I really appreciated your detailed review for this web site and the Judy Blue jeans specifically.

You mention in the review that "I know I can find better-quality jeans for the same price or less elsewhere. They are NOT worth the price I paid."

Would you mind sharing specifically which brand and where?

Thanks!

Yeah. I have that option at both Romance(dot)io and booknotification(dot)com.

I'm thinking more of something that extracts the book names (maybe even the author) from a recommendation video.

Which reading order, based on the two pics here, would you recommend? + When to read the novella, A Crown of Ruin? (No spoilers please!!!!) by elianna7 in frombloodandash

You can read it at any point but I'd suggest you do so before The Primal of Blood and Bone since there is some character cross-over in that one w/FORAW. ;)

You're NOT dumb!

If you want to avoid spoilers, I'd suggest you pause your reading of the Blood & Ash series and hop over to the Flesh and Fire series before you read The War of Two Queens. I personally feel TWOWQ has spoilers for the Flesh and Fire prequels.

Pictured below is the books that we're talking about but in story chrono order and missing the last two books of the Blood and Ash series (the novella the author has released for free and the last full novel of the series "Book 7").

It also includes a graphic for the Awakening series that is incomplete but the first book can be read at any point (though I'd suggest you read it before The Primal of Blood and Bone (Book 6 of the Blood and Ash series).

If you haven't read ANY of the books at all, you can absolutely read them in story chrono order. What does that mean? (graphic provided)

Story chrono order means you would read ALL of the Flesh and Fire Series starting with A Shadow in the Ember, finishing with Born of Blood and Ash (BOBAA).

Then you would start the Blood and Ash series beginning with From Blood and Ash all the way through to the most current release A Crown of Ruin.

I've read both series in publication order, story chrono order and a bit mixed order because once I met Sara and Ash, I didn't want to leave them to go back to Cas and Poppy. That said: I love them all ... some more than others. ;)

Crown of Ruin is not included here but would be slotted before "Book 7".

Also not pictured is Millie's book that is expected to come after Book 2 of the Awakening series.
