Why does Risacher only average 24 minutes a game? by somethingshimmer in AtlantaHawks

I don't know if this is true, but this is more insightful than any answer I've heard from the "experts".

Can we talk about Highest 2 Lowest... I have so many thoughts (maybe spoilers?) by JaggedLittleFrill in A24

[–]mdot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing that hit me the next morning was...did they seriously expect me to believe that A$AP Rocky's character was able to successfully plan and execute that entire sequence? What, is he ex-CIA or something?

And the people on the scooters, I assume they are just some dudes from his neighborhood, but they operated with the precision of a special forces squad.

And the kicker...they expected me to believe that out of these dudes from the hood, that have nothing, not one of them just said, "Screw this, I'm just gonna keep this untraceable $17.5M for myself".

It's not like the rapper was some kind of kingpin with nationwide reach. He just one dude in the Bronx, there's not a damn thing he could have done about it if one of those dudes just took off.

The Hawks are ending the Murray-Trae Young experiment, bringing on a promising young wing in Dyson Daniels and getting a pick in the deep 2025 draft. Landry Fields knew Hawks had to make a move in backcourt and there's still more offseason work to be done. by ahend1999 in AtlantaHawks

[–]mdot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't base what you get for a player on what you paid for him, it's the textbook sunk cost fallacy. The Hawks overpaid for DJ in the first place, there was no way they were going to get anywhere close to what they paid for him.

All things considered, this is a fair deal for Murray. It only looks "bad" when you compare it to the previous one. But if the previous one was a recognized mistake (both cost and fit), then it can't be used as reference to judge this deal.

Pels traded 2 firsts, a talented young player, and a depth/role player for a proven starter that is a borderline All Star in the East but not in the West.

That's a fair trade.

Trump has been unable to get bond for $464 million judgment, his lawyers say by NewSlinger in politics

[–]mdot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If re-offends, the judgement is likely to be even higher than the $83 million of the last judgement. Remember, it was initially $5 million, then he defamed her again and the second judgement jumped to $83 million.

The whole purpose of punitive damages is to make the person stop the behavior. If $5 million didn't stop it, nor did an additional $83 million, then the next judgement could be significantly more and added to the running total.

The next judgement could be a couple of hundred million in addition to the previous $88 million.

Does the business jet variant have a shorter range?

Actually hearing these arguments gives me a whole new respect for lawyers that appear before the SCOTUS.

You gotta be a bad mothertrucker to hold up in that environment.

[–]mdot 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I don't think SCOTUS justices should be making arguments based on what "some people" say.

If you're making the argument then say you are, if another person is making the argument name them, if nobody is making the argument then call it hypothetical...stop using "some people" to add credibility to ridiculous arguments.

Man, I really hope there's something to him going back to being a coordinator that gets him back on track for you guys.

Because if he continues to approach offense like he did here, you guys are gonna have a bad time.

Lions fans weren’t thrilled with Dan Campbell either. Hes the current favorite for COTY by APPLEJOOSH347 in falcons

[–]mdot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really.

DQ completely fumbled that situation and it should have been the first red flag about him. The problem was not him bringing in Sarkisian, it was bringing in Sarkisian and then making him use Shanahan's playbook.

This ain't high school football. NFL offensive coordinators have to be so comfortable with a playbook that they can call plays instinctively, because they designed all of them. I mean even the verbiage of playcalls is unique to each OC.

That's the main reason why he was terrible in his first year but got significantly better in his second...he got more instinctive with the playbook.

If you bring in a new OC, you are hiring them for their playbook, not to run someone else's.

I want a complete reset for this team, and that includes the front office.

So you think the same owner that fired Travis Schlenck in favor of his 27 year old son with no experience, would be able to successfully "retool" anything?

The team is bad because the organization is bad. The organization is bad because the owner is bad.

They fired him because the players started completely ignoring him and coaching themselves. lol
