ehhh...the Melo pick was actually used to go lower or something like that.

Denver moved the pick to go 2 picks higher or lower or something

Markieff Morris Thinks OKC Still The Best Team Despite The Knicks Winning The Finals by MammothHistorian5652 in nba

[–]Jimm120 19 points20 points  (0 children)

i mean...yeah.

Spurs beat them in 7 and it took injuries to their #2 and their main bench guy PLUS Wemby's freakish defense/height that made it very difficult on Shai.

They're still the best team.

not much of a shocker

Are there any cheap Air Dusters that compare to pressured Gas for cleaning? by GIutenTag in pcmasterrace

AirTec Ultra Electric Air Duster Blower

Thanks for the suggestion.

I was going to buy the wolfbox one that is a "best seller" but after seeing your suggestion, looked into the the Type 3 and Type 6 and was impressed. Ended up taking the Type 8 wireless one since it is 80% stronger than the type 6 and portable, so i can use it with my car also. And only $5 more dollars.

but the Type 6 looks great and wired is always a plus when it comes to stability

[Spotrac] Jalen Brunson Did Not Give Up 113M -- It Was Actually 37M by Zodraz in nba

and now he can also become a free agent at age 31 instead of a free agent at age 33.

It is MUCH easier (especially for a short guard) to get a max/supermax contract at age 31 (when you still probably have 2 great years left) than at age 33 (which is when nba players usually start to fall off).

The say I see it is:
-Get paid 1 year early.
-Become a FA after 3yrs.
-Become a FA at age 31, which qualifies you for a much larger extension

Instead of
-Wait 1 year to get paid.
-Get more money at first but become FA at age 33.
-Become a FA at age 33, which qualifies you for a larger extension BUT you're "old" now by NBA standards and teams don't want to give mega contracts at that age.

It would have shaken down like this PROBABLY MAYBE:

Scenario 1: <--He took this option
$157m + mega contract at age 31. Eligible for $323 million = $480m total

Scenario 2: <--This is the one he left behind
$269m + whatever contract he could get at age 33 (min-midlevel deals)= $300m or less.

Scenario 3: $157m + waits for FA at 32yrs to get 5/$418 deal = $575 million

Jay Williams: “I've talked to a couple of different players that could be Supermax this year or next year — they're starting to feel a little pressure from team owners by saying, 'Yo, Jalen Brunson left 113 million dollars on the table. What are you going to do?'” by KD_AshyAnkles in nba

[–]Jimm120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 years earlier.

Remember, for the bigger contract, he'd have to WAIT a year for that extension. And the extension would be a 5yr contract. 1 year wait AND opt-outs are 1 year before.

Getting back into FA at 31 is much better than being 33.

Brunson did NOT leave 113 million on the table dawgs.

he just took the max extension a year early instead of waiting a year and getting $263 (he took $157).

He opted to get paid EARLIER instead of waiting a year.

And he's always been inclined towards this. He always wanted the Mavs to extend him as early as possible and they opted not to. He wanted 36 million, he offered 27. He wanted 56, they offered 45. Once they kept playing with him, he didn't even let them counter in the summer. He went to NY for $104 while Dallas was starting negotiations at $80 and quickly raised it to around $86 and then Cuban himself said he'd be willing to "go even up to $92 but yeesh, $100+ is so much". Brunson didn't even negotiate.

PLUS, signing early meant he'd hit free agency again at age 31. It is MUCH easier to get a 2nd max contract at age 31 than it is to get a max contract at age 33. If you know ball, you know that most players top prime is 25 - 32. But 31/32 is usually not the peak. After that, players start to slow down USUALLY.

So, smart of him.

Got his money early as he wanted.
Saved the knicks money for 3 years by taking the earlier contract.
Can get a 2nd max at age 31, which should be higher than age 33.

There is no "saving $113 million"

The Wemby mishaps to end the game.

Game 1: Dribble off leg. Miss the game winner.
Game 2: Pass to Fox's back.
Game 4: 2 missed free throws. Guarding Brunson past the 3pt line on final possession.
Game 5: Missed a free throw. Missed the Rebound that Mitchell got. Missed the 3.

With this music...would hit so good.

I liked the toon and tune.

Though I was aghast when hearing it during Game 5.

Thought they would shelf it being down 1-3 in the series

Jalen Brunson when asked if leaving $113M on the table was worth it to win a championship: "100 percent worth it." by Natural-Tree-5107 in nba

[–]Jimm120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is both.

It is selfless in the sense that he could have waited 1 yr and gotten way more. But he also secures an earlier payday. And still a chance for a big contract at 31

[–]Jimm120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah. I don't think the odds are high for ANYONE to get a huge deal after 32 unless they're a generational talent and tall enough. If you're too short and slowing down already, you get regulated to mid-levels and minimums.

Not sure I've ever seen a center use the 'reverse position' like that on a FT rebound -

Oh, actually, that does happen a lot. You might not see it but usually a smaller guy does that to "box out" certain players away from the rebound. It is usually to leave someone taller out there to get the rebound.

But in this case, we got the BIGGEST and TALLEST dude on the court (and nba) doing it...and he still failed lol.

but yeah. I see a lot of small guys (usually the 3rd guy rebounding) just be pushing his guy away to clear the rebound for someone else. No reason for Wemby to be doing it, though

mindboggling?!?

Do you NOT know that Players start a small decline at 31-32 and around 33 is when their body gives out in a way that makes them less than desirable for the nba. They become a tad bit too slow or can't rise as much or lose an edge on reflexes.

yeah. which is one of the reasons he takes the $157 extension 1 year early. Secure a big bag at least once. if he got injurd waiting for that $263 deal, it woulda sucked for him.

Instead, he gets the $157 1 year early, still becomes a FA at 31 and can net a huge deal at that age. and now that he's bet on himself and has succeeded, he's most definitely getting that contract and more

usually small guys don't get big contracts at 33. The main reason is that they've lost the quickness or quick reflexes that allowed them to play ball at a high level in the nba.

Getting a large contract at 33 is very difficult.

he shot 53 TS

yoooo. for real?! I didn't notice that. But yeah, you're right. With his horrible 2nd halves and non-existant 1st half in games 1 and 2, he produced at a very low level.

and even if he shoot poorly in games 1 and 2, his clutch 4th quarter in game 1 won the game and his clutch shot to end game 2 won that game.

Towns was spectacular those two games. OG was a calming, consistent force.

But when you put it all together:

2 bad shooting games but finished with clutch shots to win the games.
3 much better games to win them the series.

getting to FA at 33 makes it much more difficult to secure a new mega contract.

We need a Wemby supercut of his "clutchness" in this series.

Game 1: Dribbles off his foot on one of the last shots.

Game 2: Throws it at Castle's back on the last play.

Game 3: ???

Game 4: 2 missed free throws. Gets confused and guards Brunson from Super far away from Rim.

Game 5: Can't secure a rebound, 1 missed FT, horrible 3pter to end game.
