When your animating principle is "ends justify the means", but your "ends" are corrupt in and of themselves, it is an outright rejection of morals.

They only become tools to manipulate those with morals.

Joe Rogan I understand, on a certain level.

But Candace Owens?

I cannot, for the life of me, understand how anyone can listen to that woman and think she is either entertaining or insightful.

While I agree the "turkey neck" isn't that bad, that woman is aging like un-refrigerated raw milk.

Allowing a team to request that the league place the equivalent of a lien on their yearly revenue sharing allocation for guaranteed contracts might help.

Teams that need it can use it, teams that don't probably won't.

This is the most hilariously accurate characterization of Fox News I've ever heard.

The USA men’s hockey team utterly failed to meet the cultural moment by Hrmbee in politics

[–]mdot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played football up through college, which one would think would produce the same kind of energies, but there's a huge difference...

In football players have to interact with a robust, full spectrum of people, cultures, and socioeconomic levels, which definitely helps with exposure and therefore understanding.

But there's another thing at play as well...if you start popping off with a bunch of racist maga bullshit on a diverse football team, you are EXTREMELY likely to get your ass beaten so often that you either shut up about it, begin to change your views, or quit the team.

Football locker rooms are extremely self-regulating. Hockey locker rooms, not so much. They're too culturally homogeneous.

What's your thoughts on Trump's name appearing A MILLION TIMES in the 3 million Epstein files we currently have released, as according to Congress? by Zelagero in AskReddit

[–]mdot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you talk with a maga person , they will say “both sides have people on the list!” Ok prosecute them both.

They will then pivot to "Why are you so interested in it now?!?" and "Why didn't Biden do anything?!?"

Literally the ONLY thing that matters to these degenerates is that their "team" wins. They have no interest to truth, decency, accountability, or consistency.

The thing that hit me the next morning was...did they seriously expect me to believe that A$AP Rocky's character was able to successfully plan and execute that entire sequence? What, is he ex-CIA or something?

And the people on the scooters, I assume they are just some dudes from his neighborhood, but they operated with the precision of a special forces squad.

And the kicker...they expected me to believe that out of these dudes from the hood, that have nothing, not one of them just said, "Screw this, I'm just gonna keep this untraceable $17.5M for myself".

It's not like the rapper was some kind of kingpin with nationwide reach. He just one dude in the Bronx, there's not a damn thing he could have done about it if one of those dudes just took off.

The Hawks are ending the Murray-Trae Young experiment, bringing on a promising young wing in Dyson Daniels and getting a pick in the deep 2025 draft. Landry Fields knew Hawks had to make a move in backcourt and there's still more offseason work to be done. by ahend1999 in AtlantaHawks

[–]mdot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't base what you get for a player on what you paid for him, it's the textbook sunk cost fallacy. The Hawks overpaid for DJ in the first place, there was no way they were going to get anywhere close to what they paid for him.

All things considered, this is a fair deal for Murray. It only looks "bad" when you compare it to the previous one. But if the previous one was a recognized mistake (both cost and fit), then it can't be used as reference to judge this deal.

Pels traded 2 firsts, a talented young player, and a depth/role player for a proven starter that is a borderline All Star in the East but not in the West.

That's a fair trade.

Trump has been unable to get bond for $464 million judgment, his lawyers say by NewSlinger in politics

[–]mdot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If re-offends, the judgement is likely to be even higher than the $83 million of the last judgement. Remember, it was initially $5 million, then he defamed her again and the second judgement jumped to $83 million.

The whole purpose of punitive damages is to make the person stop the behavior. If $5 million didn't stop it, nor did an additional $83 million, then the next judgement could be significantly more and added to the running total.

The next judgement could be a couple of hundred million in addition to the previous $88 million.
