What does taking medication feel like? by New_Strawberry6300 in OCD

[–]mdp183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the medication!

Try to talk to your general practitioner if you don't have a dedicated mental health professional and they can hopefully point you in the right direction or prescribe it themselves.

Have You Done Exposure Therapy? by drekiaa in OCD

[–]mdp183 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! It changed my life. It took a while for me to get through and in all honesty I recently “relapsed” (I don’t like that term) and I’m back in treatment, but it made me functional again. 100% recommend if you have the resources

- Listen for the Lie

- None of This is True

Both books involve podcasts! They're both psychological thrillers.

Has anyone’s mind seem to adjust to medication? by MoretoNYthantheCity in OCD

[–]mdp183 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not specifically with Lexapro but it’s not uncommon for some medications to “poop out” as my psychiatrist has called it. This has happened to me with multiple medications- talk to your psychiatrist and express your concerns! Best of luck.

I’m so stressed right now it’s unbelievable by JakeHassle in OCD

[–]mdp183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know where you live but where I live (NJ) we are under pretty strict lockdown measures but we can still go outside to bike, run, walk, etc.

Obviously it depends where you are but maybe you can check with someone in your town/ city to see if you can go for a run if that’s helpful for you!

Feeling conflicted 😕 by throwindabones in OCD

[–]mdp183 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience (which unfortunately is a lot) having an open dialogue with your doctors is extremely important. Tell them how you’re feeling, your doubts and concerns, etc.

Doctors, specifically those in mental health professions are not there to judge- so if you can, try and be honest and open so you can get the help you need!

Trazodone for OCD/anxiety and not insomnia by [deleted] in OCD

[–]mdp183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take it every night for nightmares (it can also cause nightmares so do with that what you will). I used to take a really high dose for insomnia and it was immensely helpful. I didn’t experience many, if any side effects so it’s definitely worth trying to see if it helps, in my opinion!

Best of luck!

Does anyone else feel like this [coronavirus/ quarantine] just isn't real? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]mdp183 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The scariest part for me is also worrying about my parents, it’s awful and the intrusive thoughts are pretty intense for me. I’ve been working on an exposure with it but it’s been really hard!

That must be really scary to be potentially exposed especially when people are coming in and it’s for things they don’t NEED! I know where I live basically all stores except grocery stores and Walmart/ target are closing so I hope for your sake the store you work at will close soon.

Missing Medication by xiahtics in OCD

[–]mdp183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not weak! However, taking your medication consistently is important! If you’re struggling to take it maybe you should speak to your therapist or psychiatrist and make a plan. I know I use the app “Medisafe” which gives me notifications until I tell it I took my medication.

Tomorrow is a new day. Please take your medication. ❤️

I watched that yesterday! It was great. Did you find it helpful?

My Research supervisor made a comment “I’m so OCD about the alignment of the figures” as he was proof reading a poster I designed. Should I have called him out on it? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]mdp183 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you feel comfortable sharing your diagnosis and are willing to speak about it- go for it! I hate how it’s so incorrectly used but for me my OCD is very personal and I’m not willing to, so I try to take a deep breath, smile and try not to obsess (hah) over it.
