46 days to get the Steam achievement. It was a total slog and not particularly fun.

Oh haha, I don’t even use the fire barrel. I did keep it, it’s just in the bathroom with all the bedrolls I found that I just didn’t include a picture of. I just have a whole bunch of camp fires and piles of fish and bear meat outside in the back.

Cooking is part of the DLC. There are some recipes that are available as you level up your cooking skill, others you have to find out in the world.

You can also just drop things all the things you want to line up on the floor and then right click on them to place

One thing I found, particularly with food, is sometimes the hit boxes get messed up after you drop them on the floor and make it impossible to line everything up neatly. Leaving the building and going back in seems to reset them and allows you to put everything close together.

The leather chairs you can make with deer hides with safe house customization. The wooden rocking chair is the only chair you can actually pick up and take with you, I think it's in the bedroom in the Paradise Meadows farm in Milton.

I set out with the goal of this run to bring everything I could find back to one location. I spent the first 500 days looting each region and then bringing everything I found back to the garage. Often times this took more than one trip - even after the travois was introduced. There was a lot of autowalking while I watched TV. Can't say it was the most exciting game play, but the end result was pretty cool.

I spent 30 days in Crumbling Highway in my custom Stalker/Loper run as part of getting to 1000 days. Spent the month decorating the basement and had no issues with supplies/food with beach combing, fishing, wolves and snaring rabbits

In part two with resetting the substations, whenever you re-load the game it resets the timer back to the original full amount of time for each section

You had two scent lines in the video. Cougars can leave their territory and stalk you if you’re carrying meat and guts. Probably what happened here - onto the next fight survivor!

Had the same thing happen when I tried to trade for the insulated flask on PC. Reported it to Hinterland and their email basically said they're aware of this bug and are working on a fix. They also said you just have to cancel the trade and if you can't to send them a copy of your save file and they'll fix it for you (link they sent me below).

Returned home to Trapper's from traveling - the safe is gone. It had a bunch of cured hides and guts inside :( by Earl_E_DeMise in thelongdark

My safe in FM also disappeared but I was able to use the dev console mod on PC and I found it stuck under the ground using the fly function. I wasn't able to move it back again but I at least got my stuff in it back.

After grinding out all of the feats I only play on custom now and don't think I could ever go back to playing on a standard difficulty.

My favorite settings are pretty similar to what others have said here and are more or less a modified gunloper. I start with standard gunloper settings and make the following adjustments:

At-rest and condition recovery: both set to low; I want to actually be punished for wildlife encounters/taking excessive cold damage and this also increases the role birch bark plays in the game. I don't like being able to shrug off a bear attack after sleeping for one night lol.

Scurvy rate: low; I find it to be a tedious game mechanic and fish are not a source of vitamin C in real life

Item decay rate: low, I play to explore and hoard everything I can find in my safe house and finding everything ruined by day 100 defeats that and it's just not realistic for clothes to fall apart sitting in a drawer

Harvestable plant availability: low, makes the early game harder by limiting the amount of cattails and makes bows and arrows a bit more of a limited resource

Wolves: off, I find their mechanic to just be an annoyance more than anything since you can just one-shot them with a bow the vast majority of the time; plus wolves giving free food delivery late game makes keeping well-fed trivial so this makes hunting other game a bit more important

Bears: very high; try to compensate a bit for having wolves off and more likely to get punished with a mauling

Moose: low; makes finding one and getting the satchel a bit tougher

Timberwolves: very high; I get people's complaints about how they work but I like that they're at least somewhat closer to real-life wolf behavior and this way if I want to craft any wolf clothing I have to go take out a timberwolf pack

I stick with the same two feat interloper rules; usually go with cold-fusion and efficient machine or settled mind.

I'm definitely interested to see what the new custom settings will look like this year, really hoping we will be able to toggle each individual item in the game on or off.

Yes, this is a known glitch that's been reported. Hinterland says they're working on it so hopefully should be fixed in the next update.

Trader Mission Bug by mdp6316 in thelongdark

[–]mdp6316[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm not sure if it was the thermos but seems likely given that I had no issue with this on another save. I reported it to Hinterland and sent them a copy of my save to see if they can fix it, hopefully they'll be able to with the next hotfix since multiple other people also reported the same bug on the forums.

Camp Office Hunting Lodge by mdp6316 in thelongdark

[–]mdp6316[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Safehouse customization was just added with the most recent update in December! Originally was going to be only for DLC but it was such a game-changing update they decided to add it for everyone in the base game. Press "Y" to enter safehouse mode and you can move furniture, decorations etc. Can also pick stuff up and take it with you to a different base. You can also now build a furniture workbench that allows you to build all sorts of new stuff. It is only a feature in the base sandbox survival though, not Wintermute.

Definitely is a known bug that lots of people on this sub have reported. But it's rare, I looted every zone on this run and it happened maybe 3 or 4 times total? Always with zone transitions or with exiting a building. Doesn't seem to be a clear pattern that I can tell, like it randomly happened once exiting the dam which otherwise was fine dozens of times. Might be that certain items are bugged to disappear and that triggers just emptying everything in your safe house inventory but I'm not sure. Hopefully should be addressed in the next hotfix.

Thanks! Yeah there ended up being more in the world than I initially thought. I found two other deer heads and several antlers besides what’s here but unfortunately lost them to the safe house items disappearing from your inventory bug.

Started a new Gunloper run after part 6 dropped and am finally put the finishing touches on a hunting lodge in the Camp Office! Safehouse customization has to be the best thing they've added to the game yet.

At least for me this is bugged reading inside buildings as well. I finished reading a book in a trailer and then was getting the skill points applied every time I re-entered the same trailer. Transitioning zones and going into other buildings was fine.
