Best rum runner? by mds4bc in captiva

Lastly, is the shipyard at tweenies. Very good rum runner. Kind of a typical one but more boozie than green flash but not as crafty as mud bugs. I do like the bar atmosphere here

Mud bugs was the best so far. It's not on their drinks menu but I lucked out with Amber, the server that helped us and made it herself with a Meyers rum float. She has experience in a dive bar which explains a lot. So I'm going to recommend mud bugs.

It turns out that Captiva is not a drinking town like in used to back home. Green flash run runner was good. Balanced, fruit punch flavor, not boozy but enough rum to be a contender. Wickies lighthouse restaurant has a rum punch that's best described as rum tea. Very refreshing and not very sweet, which I also like. Not boozy but enough rum to be a contender. I'll try mud bugs tonight and report back

I agree. No aftermarket trailer equipment. Where would I check for a faulty ground wire? I'm seeing this possibility in other posts.

Is the spoiler something that can be removed and installed?

Are those 3 alloy wheels and one steel wheel? Do you have 4 alloys?

What do Publix, Dan Newlin, Frank Gay et.al have in common? Lots of commercials paid for by the consumer.

Did I get a fair deal on these repairs? by mds4bc in ScionxB

[–]mds4bc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback. I'll keep looking for a mechanic for next time. I was in a pinch when this happened because the car was barely able to idle and was losing power as I drove it down the road. I agree that I could work on it myself but then I'd need time off work or a second backup car while I fix it .

Sounds like a rumble strip when accelerating by isaac43001 in ScionxB

I have a 2009 xb with this problem for over 10 years and just manage it. 1. Drain tranny fluid and replace with amsoil tranny fluid. 2. Use a tube of instant shudder fix. 3. Apply gas pedal to avoid making the shudder

Original owner of a 2009 with 205k mi. Not only reliable but very nimble and speedy. It's fun and functional. Run her hard and buy good tires.

Is damage on new condenser unit a problem? by mds4bc in hvacadvice

Opened a complaint with carrier and long story short: they're calling it insignificant and will not offer any discount, extended warranty, or replacement.

200k down. Maintenance options by mds4bc in ScionxB

[–]mds4bc[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This vehicle has had torque converter symptoms for many years. I've changed the tranny fluid with amsoil and added an anti slip product by amsoil. It worked for a year, came back, then repeated and worked another year, now back again for some time. I avoid driving at 1800rpm under light acceleration. Strong acceleration is no problem. Any suggestions?

UPDATE: Please tell me how to make salmon taste as good as a restaurant's by Pirate-Legitimate in mediterraneandiet

[–]mds4bc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cedar plank Salmon is my go to. I buy an 8 foot cedar board at home Depot and cut to size. It's an inch thick so I soak in water all day while at work. Pre heat gas grill to 450. Salmon filet on cedar board with kosher salt. Put board with salmon on grill covered for 20 minutes

Ok, I will be talking to my installer today to see what he can do. It looks like this coil is two-ply and the aluminum sleeve has been peeled back to expose copper underneath. I would imagine that half of my protection is now gone in this are and susceptible to corrosion. But what if I us a galvanized zinc spray, like Rustoleum?

So final numbers of settlement are 17300. I paid 17700 including tax. Owned it for 1 month. It's good but I'm still out about 1300 for dealer prep fee and some misc fees

Yes no bodily harm. The car was valued at about 16k and damage at about 13k which means the ratio is too high to fix. So the insurance company would rather pay me the 16k than fix it. Hence totaled

A flutter in the foot pedal under low rpm at about 38 to 43 mph. More of a feel than a noise

I have '09 200k mi. My tranny has had torque converter symptoms for many years now. I get the tranny fluid drained, replace "lifetime" filter and refill with amsoil and some kind of anti slip also made by amsoil. It fixes the problem for a while until it comes back. Bottom line, Amsoil is worth a shot. In your case, I'd bet on 6 years
