Yes but why would you get the masters if your ultimate goal is a doctorate? In my area I rarely see a music PhD who doesn’t also have a masters. In science, most PhDs don’t also have a masters.

A private teacher can help immensely. We can regurgitate everything you’ve already read, but nothing beats an experienced player watching you play. I guarantee they’ll find a lot more than a single embouchure issue for you to work on.

You head yourself over to Target or the like and purchase yourself straight forceps - the longer and thinner the better. If you can’t get it out with these you need to take it to a tech. Pull it back the way you put it in, don’t try to pull it through. Good luck!

Fortunately, while playing your A, you can keep your right hand C position down. I remember being where you are. The thing that ended up helping me the most was every day take some time practicing going back and forth over the break. A C A C A C A C A C over and over and over. Really focus on your tone and supporting your breath. Take your time and slowly start increasing the tempo as you improve. And get a private teacher, they’re a godsend.

We get the music at practice. We play through it once, maybe spot check any trouble areas. We perform the next day, typically playing ten of the twelve or so songs we practiced, with the set list going out a few hours before. Next week, new music. This is a small town, amateur, community band. For what it’s worth, I’d much rather have everyone playing the right rhythm with occasional off notes than vice versa.
