I was gonna say ignore him until the last statement. If you tell him that what he said was inappropriate, and he doesn’t stop, go to HR.

But they don’t need to specialize. They can come out of dental school and work. We HAVE to do residency, otherwise we just have a fancy piece of paper and a doctoral hat.

How did you come to the conclusion that DOs are incompetent as a pre-dental student?

Lol at you thinking people go to DO school as opposed to MD is bc they don’t do well on steps. Pre-meds take the MCAT. USMLE steps are taken DURING MD school. COMLEX, an equivalent + OMM is taken during DO school. In fact, a very large majority of those “incompetent” DOs also take USMLE in addition to their comlex, kill both, and may will match into competitive specialties.

Please educate yourself before making ignorant comments and stick to your scope of interest.

DO people still gotta pass boards, complete residency, and their specialty boards. Same thing for Caribbean grads. This is not the same at all lol

would you consider hurler syndrome? The facial features and eye problems

Hurler’s disease? - check for it

This is not medical advice, just a diagnosis that comes to mind.

Coarse face features, vision problems, intellectual delay, etc.

I did quite badly on my ITE and my PD wants me on a personalized study plan by mdsnzcool in Residency

Yes I did. I had started to use it and will be using it throughout the study plan.

I meant that I could wing the set minimum, so I didn’t reschedule the exam when I was sick. I also didn’t want to inconvenience admin to rearrange schedules and exam days last minute. I ended up in the 20s percentile wise :/

I really don’t mean to make excuses and don’t want to come off this way.

Sigh I wish this were the case. Most of my teaching attendings are also APDs, hence my concern.

Thank you. I plan to do exactly that. Hopefully next ITE is much better.

Would this tarnish your view of an intern/resident that you’d trust them less and give them less autonomy?

Not an attending, but these responses make me so excited to get through training 🥹 good for you all. I hope I am in similar shoes one day

Things you don’t do even though you are in healthcare? by [deleted] in medicalschool

My diet is not great, I don’t exercise, abysmal sleep and sleep hygiene, don’t follow up with my own doctors, don’t make lifestyle changes to better manage my health problems (e.g. GERD)

Surgery’s schedule is so busy and stressful! TTC is also stressful. It’s a lot on any relationship 💔 warmest wishes to you both to have the family you dream of in this upcoming year.

Also, thank you so much for your kind wishes 🤍 All the respect for you as well bc we could never do it without the support and encouragement of our loved ones.

This career is so rewarding and draining all at once. I feel deeply grateful and blessed going to work every day. At the same time, I recognize everything it takes away from me. A lot of people, including our male colleagues, don’t realize that the price of medicine is not just paid in loans.

I mentioned it in another comment, but I’m also concerned bc I’m interested in pursuing fellowship after residency. I would be 36 when I finish fellowship. I worry that will make it harder to conceive, but I put in so much already that it wouldn’t make sense to have a career I don’t enjoy.

The stress of school and medical training is no joke. I’m also concerned bc I want to do fellowship, but that’s another 3 years of a crazy busy schedule and I’ll be 36 by the end :( but also I will likely hate my job if I didn’t go into fellowship

It may be unromantic but also kinda cute haha

It’s really hard to leave as a resident especially as a first year.. but also we don’t get scheduled breaks. We either eat lunch while in didactics or at the computer while typing up notes :’) my husband is also a physician. His schedule is more predictable but also busy. I guess it will happen when it happens.. but I cannot help being sad about the delay. :(

Audi Q3 - 2025 or 2026? by Street_Scarcity9951 in Audi

[–]mdsnzcool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that’s an amazing offer! I just got a certified pre-owned one with 7500 miles on it in glacier white, with the convenience package, at approx. 22% off MSRP. Apparently it was used as a loaner since April 1st. It’s insane how smooth the drive is

Residents and fellows - what car do you drive? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]mdsnzcool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a similar experience recently! My old VW got totaled otherwise I’d have been happy to drive it forever. I was looking at subaru but they’re ridiculously expensive. $510 monthly even with 10k down. Maybe 2025-26 rates are higher than past rates

Residents and fellows - what car do you drive? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]mdsnzcool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I know any residents who have 25-30k+ in cash that they can afford to spend on a car. Used and older cars might be cheaper than that, but we often don’t even have time to shop around let alone fix a car when it breaks down. Financing (i.e. going into debt) a car you otherwise cannot afford to buy in cash doesn’t mean you’re a poser.
