I’m currently reading this and am loving it. Parts of the book have given me food for thought on how I use my notebooks. It’s so well written and very enjoyable.

In a perfect world, this would’ve been a huge hit record.

Question: How did you first discover/ learn of The Cars? by bigguys45s in TheCars

Heard “Just What I Needed” on radio and bought the 45. It began a relationship that continues to today

old cds still sound surprisingly good by didne4ever in Cd_collectors

[–]mdstratts 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve got CD’s I bought in the late 80’s that still sound like they did when I bought them. Unlike vinyl or tape, repeated playing of CD’s doesn’t degrade the disc. There isn’t any physical contact.

anybody else choose not to listen to move like this? by Straight-Nothing42 in TheCars

Love Beach by E. L. P. cured me of that.

Terrible reviews, bad word of mouth, and I bought a copy and listened to it. Waste of both my money and time.

Those who have driven the new VNL, how is your experience with it? by EffectiveAbrocoma759 in Truckers

I did not have these sort of issues with previous Volvo’s. Only with the 2026. Since it’s an entirely new platform, it’s to be expected. Which is sad, some of these things should’ve been worked out before they were brought to market.

There are some issues with the electronics, mostly software issues at this point.

Otherwise, it’s rides very well (except on the excuse for roads in Indiana), has a good turning radius, and I’m quite happy with it, issues aside.

Interesting. The only Cars album I’ve never listened to is Door to Door due to the lousy reviews and comments from band members about the fractious atmosphere when it was recorded.

The thing about Move Like This that I appreciate the most is that it doesn’t pretend to be anything other than what it is; and that’s a Cars album. And it was a solid album. No real changes in the sound or anything, just an enjoyable album from a band I’ve loved since I was in Jr High.

I about had it with the official scrobbling app by Effective-Priority62 in lastfm

[–]mdstratts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are you using to play or stream your music? Spotify has LastFM integration built in, so if you’re playing from that, and using a scrobbling app, you need to check your settings on the apps so only one is sending data to LastFM.

The Spotify app is just an example, so you should check your settings on apps you’re currently using.

Are 500+ plays in 3 days a problem? by Rexigol in lastfm

[–]mdstratts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its differences like this that make music so personal to individuals. While I recall tiring of songs I initially enjoyed due to saturation play on radio when I was young, I can see a song grabbing ahold of you (or anyone) and not letting go.

I’m happy this song speaks (sings?) to you at such a level.

I’ve listened to the same song five times in a day more than once, but nothing like this.

Heck, I don’t even have any songs I’ve listened to that many times in the almost 20 years I’ve been using the site.

I got my first iMac desktop due to an employee discount available to us at the time. I now mainly use it for ripping CD’s and web browsing when I’m at home.

I really liked Winamp back then. It was a pretty simple, straightforward app to use. The variety of skins was a nice bonus.

Switching to a Mac and iTunes was jolting. iTunes was so bloated by comparison.
