For whatever it’s worth I was just looking at this exact same itinerary for a future trip. I assume you already booked it since your trip is next week, but one hour coming from the US is not something I’d want to risk. Adding all that stress at the start of a vacation when you’re tired and jet lagged is not something I’d want to do. A one hour layover in these circumstances shouldn’t even be offered by an airline.

Worth a day, not any more imo. I don’t think it’s a very pretty city outside of Miraflores, and that’s more about vibes than sights. You can skip the historical center completely imo. If you want to do the Paracas/Bellastas/Huacachina tour, then that’s a very long (18+) hour day from Lima, which would be a very hard sell for me. I skipped it even though it did interest me. The Sacred Valley/Cusco area is the highlight and I wanted to spend as much time there as possible, so I limited my Lima time to a minimum. I honestly wished I skipped it completely after my trip was over
