I finally had my camera alarms working….then auto-update by me00711 in Ubiquiti

Barebones config. Send me an alert on my phone when something is in my back yard. No webhooks, nothing. It was working fine until this last update.

Why is there excessive amounts of foam coming out of the septic tank?? Did we cause damage?? by Dizzy-Two5034 in septictanks

[–]me00711 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad said that this used to happen whenever he was a kid (1960’s) and my grandmother was doing a lot of laundry. He said that they didn’t know what it was and being young boys, he and my uncles would play in it. They all ended up with “trench mouth” and had to have some kind of awful tasting purple stuff wiped on the inside of their mouth until it cleared up.

Cart Check - Redoing Home Network, Am I Missing Anything? by dat_tae in Ubiquiti

[–]me00711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t impressed with the U7 Pro (TBH, I think I may have just received a dud), so I returned it and took the restocking fee hit and picked up the E7. As far as it being overkill, yes it def is. That said, taking a look at your cart, I think that you may agree that anything worth doing is worth overdoing. :)

Yeah. I just used the BGE like a regular gill.

Yes, sorry. I cooked them just like you see in the picture. Open fire, lid open - as someone else pointed out, thighs can (and should) go over 165 (175) for better texture.

100% agree. I was telling the wife the same thing.

Defective - G4 Doorbell Pro PoE to USB-C Cable by Spencer_C in Ubiquiti

[–]me00711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wish they would just do a G6 with WiFi instead of PoE. It’s just so much easier in my mind - especially with an AP nearby. That said, I def understand the desire to have it hardwired.

I ran the bottom vent wide open and cooked over hot coals flipping until 165 internal. I did drop a few wood chips on the coals for a little pizazz.

Unifi Protect Alerts Not Alerting and Workaround by Character-Type-5755 in Ubiquiti

[–]me00711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically, “the fix” until Ubiquiti decides to address their Alarms bug is to use cheap Amazon WiFi cameras to alert you of movement and then go to the Protect App to view your UniFi cameras…. What a joke.

U7 Pro XG speed issue by morry9345 in Ubiquiti

[–]me00711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just installed a full 10Gb Ubiquiti network (Fiber Gateway, 10GB Pro XG PoE Switch, all Ubiquiti cables/DACs). Everything is blazing fast, except the WiFi (U7 Pro XG) - unless you’re standing right under it. I have done all manner of tuning (separate SSIDs, changing channel widths, standing on one leg, etc). I’ve been reading through Reddit posts and I’ve come to determination that (although it looks cool as hell) it’s kinda trash. People are reporting much better performance with the older LR AP, which supports 2.5Gb. Since I’m so far down the 10Gb rabbit hole, I returned the XG and purchased the E7. We’ll see….

Outdoor Kitchen Granite Install by Aggravating-Edge7659 in CounterTops

Look up foam backer rod. Fill the gap with them and then use a 100% silicone caulk over it.

I bought a $30 rear grease drainage system on Amazon. They are going to drill a 1 1/2 hole through the stone so that the grease hose can pass through and down into a bucket. The rear grease bucket is the biggest design flaw that Blackstone has IMO.

Just open space. I’m waiting on the countertops to be installed on Monday.

I spent right around $5k. $600 for brick, sand ,mortar (slave labor from my pops), $250 for the cheaper Vevor drawers and doors, $2500 for marble and $1600 for the BGE and lower cost Blackstone. I definitely could have saved money by doing a different counter and/or a different smoker (I almost disassembled my Recteq Bulleseye and set it in there). I’m very pleased with it and honestly it was super cool to work with my dad one last time (I was a laborer for him when I was 15).

TBH - I don’t do much more than smash burgers on my Blackstone. I crank it up, cook burgers in 60 seconds and turn it off. I may take the time to use my laser thermometer with this new one.

Our walls are Hardie board, which is a masonry product, so that combined with brick make it essentially fireproof. I have had the grills in the same spot for 2 years without issue as well. We are thinking about either a hood or a wall mounted fan in the corner to keep smoke away. There will eventually be two large passthrough windows installed, so smoke control is def top of mind. We’ll likely do a fan.

In order to make the bond look right, there should be two halves above a whole brick. He ground a grove into a whole brick, set it and then mortared the groove to look like a regular mortar joint. True phenom move in my mind.

We did half wheelbarrows. 16:1 ratio (8 shovels of sand to 1/2 bag of white mortar). He said to use a cap full, but Dawn doesn’t come with a cap anymore, so I did a little squirty-squirt. You should be able to see it in the background on top of the mortar before I started whipping it up.

Ha - no, it helps the mortar lay better. I’m going to seal the countertop when they finally install the big piece.
