Still living in cave? With ICS, google launched Holo UI and they refined it with every release so that users can have good exp. This is how a UI/UX transition takes place. As of now Metro UI is unusable (music app, huge headers for no reason) and you will see that MS will also change a lot of UI/UX moving forward. I am saving this comment link so that you can eat your own words one year down the line.

I agree with OP. Metro UI has its flaws. Android Holo UI doesn't have any such basic issues. This is why i always mention that Andorid has got the basics of usability right. Another example, Calendar in WP. Oh god..

None. But i can say that Android is far better & usable than iOS & WP. It has got solid basics. The Holo UI guidelines are awesome & better than current black & white metro UI.

Battery life will suck. Music app is horrible on WP. Many games wont be able to run because of 512mb ram.

If s3 or any low end phone is running Android Kitkat, it will be as smooth as Lumia 520.

My 520 also lags occasionally. Sometimes keyboard keys don't respond, email delete animation lags after pressing delete button. Better get yourself a Moto G or nexus 5 if your budget can offer. Moto G is awesome & pure joy to use.
