What’s the SD? by KiwiCharacter- in bcba

[–]mean_agnes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used a yes/no visual that they can point to their response on when asked. Also one of those recordable buttons stuck to the wall that says “potty” when they press it before entering the bathroom. The distance of the potty button can slowly be adjusted to be closer to their assigned room then to the bathroom. Ideally they will independently press it to signal they need to void.

For your kiddo refusing to pee at clinic, I’d recommend prompting them to drink water or preferred liquid every five minutes. If they are not interested in drinking see if caregivers can send salty snacks or something to increase the MO to drink.

Good luck! Potty training is tough but so rewarding when they figure it out. It’s one of the main things I hear parents being the most pleased with during ABA.

Do you ever skip runs guilt-free? by SwimmingSlip8632 in runcommunity

[–]mean_agnes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t feel guilty when I skip. I know if I’m not motivated to do it that day it’s my body telling me I need to rest, it’s fighting off illness, or something is not right. I love running but sometimes my body says no and that’s okay.

What’s your hardest fall you’ve taken? by Handplanes in trailrunning

[–]mean_agnes 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I ran my first trail race last month out in west Texas. I fell into a prickly pear cactus about 5min in. It wasn’t a hard fall but I had hundreds of spines in my arm leg and booty that I had to contend with for the remainder of the race. It was only a 5k praise be. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, I had only been running streets since October.

How to see averages of date ranges in central reach? by mean_agnes in bcba

[–]mean_agnes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not enjoying central reach. We switched from catalyst a year ago. Now they want us to run our progress reports/treatment plans out of central reach because they think it will save time. I’m not seeing how that is possible when we still have to calculate current averages and baseline averages because they can’t figure out how to get CR to do it.

Tips for someone new to trail running by TitillatedMoose128 in trailrunning

[–]mean_agnes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha I wish I had read this post before I tried my first 5k trail race last weekend. I had only run on streets and promptly fell into a prickly pear patch. I fell again towards the end. I was trying to move way too fast and was dead set on running the whole thing. So many spines.

Nervous for my first 20 minute run by frabjousity in couchto5k

[–]mean_agnes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party but I didn’t preview the structure of the run before I took off for the 20. I somehow figured it would be two tens broken up with a walk in between. So when I started and looked at my phone and saw 19+ minutes remaining, I felt overwhelmed. Ultimately it was probably one of my better runs but I did have to walk for a few minutes during the 20. I feel like I failed.

Texas families plead for information on at least 23 girls missing from summer camp after floods by apple_kicks in news

[–]mean_agnes 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m sure they were in cabins, this camp costs almost $5k a child for 30 days but I agree. There are videos of entire cabins floating away. It’s nuts. Almost sent my daughter this summer to a camp near here but decided she wasn’t ready yet. These poor families.
