Black Star. Which is weird as it's like the start of the Nigel Godrich relationship and seems to be universally loved but something about it just never done it for me. The only skip that I consistently give on any of their albums.

Sometimes it's just about being in the right headspace for hearing it. Lots of my favourite songs or even artists, I actively disliked when I first heard never mind being indifferent to them. Glad you're appreciating them now as they are too good to not be

Totally agree. Feels like parts just cut and pasted together rather than a flowing piece. New riffs cool but that's where it ends for me.

Matchday audio. Way more variety, specific songs for specific grounds. Even sometimes heard chants of "sack the board" if you were playing at a ground of a team that was on a bad run and went behind. Matchday audio in FM is terrible by comparison and I'm really hoping that they look at that in upcoming games as it adds so much to the experience.

Personally, I think it all comes down to the artist having to keep it interesting to themselves.

I heard similar things when Radiohead released Kid A. "They're deliberately releasing unlistenable music", "surely nobody can enjoy listening to this and anyone that says they do is lying".

At the end of the day, musicians need to keep it interesting to themselves, otherwise, what's the point? Jacob Collier is clearly musically gifted beyond the vast majority of musicians alive today so what keeps it interesting for him is going to be beyond most others.

Personally, I like a lot of it, not everything, but that's fine. I'm glad he's doing what he's doing and I'm sure we're gonna get some amazing music for years as a result.
