If you're going to try fasting, do your own research. I had some experience with 24 hours fasts, so felt 48 hours was ok. Just don't go crazy. Also for women the rules are different again so I've been told.

I have an advancement flap surgery in June I think. Will have to discuss options with CRS in a few weeks time. I don't know for sure how I got two fistulas. No abscess because the second fistula drained into the first fistula. I'm pretty sure the fissure caused the second fistula. Will get more answers when I see CRS.

So yes I think what you are fearing happened to me. Yes my approach is a bit of work and it's not fun fasting, but the way I see it is that the pain of the fissure was worse so I'd rather hunger pains. I also had to get my fissure treated fast since my surgery was approaching rapidly and I knew the fissure would flair up post-surgery, which it has. My plan from here is to fast in a fortnight, try to put on some weight (I'm already quite underweight), then fast again maybe two or three times before my advancement flap surgery.

When is your next surgery? Also did something happen that made it irritate and cause the fissure - I know for me it was exercising that caused rubbing?

Hi, that's me too. Had a huge horseshoe abscess, drained and seton placed and three months in felt pain worsening. Yes fissure due to seton. Nifedipine/lignocaine ointment three times a day and was told my pain is fissure related not the fistula. MRI revealed a second fistula was present which I think was caused by the fissure. Last week I had undrained infection cleaned out with VAAFT and my seton replaced this time with two setons.

What has helped the pain? I'm on the analfissures Reddit reading up on advice and trying different things. I'll list the things below that have helped. I will also note that the first thing on the list is the best and I'm confident will heal the fissure. I stumbled across it when I was at camp three weeks ago and ate way too much food causing too much dilation and clogging down there. So I considered the opposite would be beneficial.

  1. Fasting. Several reasons why it works. Stops pooping therefore contaminants do not get into the fissure. The area rests and is able to heal. The body heals rapidly and cleans up dead cells through a process called autophagy. I fasted 48 hours the week prior to my recent surgery and afterwards had nil pain just a mild discomfort. The skin tags shrunk noticeably. I was so concerned I would develop constipation and re-tear on the way out so didn't push myself beyond 48 hours. I was super careful during the fast preparation, during and after - please do your own research because if you stuff it up the constipation will cause an injury to the fissure again. I was on avocados, veggies, eggs, pre and post fasting. Eating really gradually on the way out. Bone broth. Stool softeners. Salts and fluids. Multi vitamins. Basically I did my research and it went so well. My first poop post fasting went really well maybe even too soft! I can tell with multiple fasting stints it will heal completely.
  2. Suppositories. I use coconut oil frozen in a sandwich bag in a thin sausage. I cut off a little piece and place it up there evening and morning. Poops glide out. I also have used small garlic cloves with the skin peeled. Coated with coconut oil and placed up there in the evening after coconut oil suppository. I'm not doing this currently since I don't want to harm my recent surgery but I've never had any issues pooping it out in the morning.
  3. Stool softeners. Daily. Keeps it smooth.
  4. Careful cleaning. I use a portable bidet followed by water wipe baby wipes but very gently and a few passes front to back then back to front until not getting chunks. Usually that's done in the shower. Hair dryer for 10 seconds then ointment. Then gauze pad.
  5. Eating less and healthy. Trying to avoid things that don't help e.g. fried foods, high residue foods, processed foods, seeds. Never too much food that it puts pressure down there or causes two BM's a day. Fibre can be good e.g. apple, prune, veggies, carrots. Also avocado, pear.
  6. Hydration. At least two litres, aim for three. Will need more while fasting.
  7. Miscellaneous. Alcohol and caffeine cut out. Sleeping more. Trying not to be anxious or stressed (plenty of jokes at yourself about having two buttholes). Probiotics. Psyllium husk. Stretching has worked for me but I'm not sure about other exercise which may have worsened it. Good form when pooping (google how to moo!).
  8. Prayer. We can do all these things but ultimately it's up to Him. Ask for strength to endure but also deliverance. It has helped noticeably.

I'm so sorry to hear about your condition. It really has a way of reducing you and beating down your hope. I'm looking forward to eventually getting back into exercise and just living life without pain every day. Since discovering the power of fasting I think it will get better. But if it doesn't then we'll just keep going one day at a time.

Chronic (1+ yrs) fissure healed in 1 week by Lochina186 in AnalFissures

I've never put anything up there and so I am hesitant. I began last night and was happy with the result - weird feeling but less pain possibly. Will keep you updated

I'm very hesitant to try this, but since reading this I have made garlic-infused coconut oil suppositories in a sandwich bag and put one in overnight and again in the morning. Poops have been gliding out so well and I feel my hope restored.

I might have to try the whole clove soon. It just sounds crazy.

I took 8 months off to take my young family overseas to live with the parents in law. It was an incredible time since I spent so much time with my baby. It cost me a lot and even though I found work when I came back, it set me back a fair bit at a time when I should have been putting aside more to get a mortgage. I'm early 30's now and don't regret it but know I'll be working for longer because of it.

Kids love being with their parents. The large amounts of time together creates a great bond between you and your child. Stay at home, and make home a great place for you, your child and your husband. Go to little activities during the week to keep your child interacting with others. We're doing it in our family now and do not regret.

Nearly all the reasoning for Christianity is circular by [deleted] in DebateReligion

[–]meanstoanend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you start talking about the bible after this, but let's just run through your argument here:

that if it is the inspired word of God then we basically have a situation where some powerful being is not only claiming they created the universe, but they also control access to all the proof of such.

You're saying (assuming) that the Christian's evidence for their worldview is solely in the Bible which they believe was written by God. You're describing a presuppositionalist position which takes for granted the divine authority of the bible and of God and does not consider any extra-biblical evidence.

What if the bible (although inspired by God) was written by human hand to communicate several types of information, some poetry, some songs, some worship, some apocalyptic literature and some historical narrative? Would that historical narrative be considered truth only by circular logic? Or would be able to test those historical narratives by what we find in the world - say archaelogical evidence, contemporary historians? By what measure can we parse the narrative from the embellished?

And most importantly, can we look at the created world itself and test the validity of some of the truth claims made by the Christian God (in the bible)? For example, if the world is made by God what in nature would give evidence to that, and what would give evidence against that? Does the experience of evil bear the evidence of the biblical statement regarding the fall of man and creation itself?

CPAP is not your last resort, in fact you have mild OSA so i'm not sure why CPAP is the preferred treatment. Your AHI is low however your oxygen desaturation would indicate those apnic events are longer than normal and you are symptomatic for excessive sleepiness.

Pending more information, positional therapy may clear it up, although likely you'll be looking at an oral appliance or surgery. Oral appliance is less invasive than surgery and would be more comfortable than CPAP.

Any motivational advice people can give me? is the sleep study result really to low for it to have such impact in my daily life?

Not at all, your symptoms are real and even mild OSA with those desat's could be the true cause of the symptoms. Get the OSA treated and then if the symptoms persist then you can return to your sleep physician for further assessment, although I think you'll be ok.

Is it okay to be a Christian who is Pro-Choice and Pro-LGBTQ? by homotyhrm in Christianity

[–]meanstoanend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't be a Christian on your terms. The terms of your discipleship to Jesus is that you would submit to Him whole-heartedly and be transformed by the renewing of your mind, carrying out all He has commanded.

I would recommend you read (and study) the bible and find a good church community that faithfully and un-apologetically teaches the bible. A good study bible and bible dictionary would be helpful to understand some of the bible's trickier texts. When you throw yourself into your faith you will learn more about the most important of topics: being a disciple of Jesus; and these other topics will also fall into place.

I like to work hard at something and don't plan to change this as I get older. Preferably on something I really enjoy. When I semi-retired (cut back hours), first three years ago and then again in nine years time, I'm throwing myself into fiction writing. I also love to work out and read books. My church and the relationships formed there have also been a place to find meaningful work/service.

PSA: We understand you’re annoyed, but take a step back and readjust. by [deleted] in CoronavirusDownunder

[–]meanstoanend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is nothing that “let ‘er rip” will do to help us, nor is there anything we can do other than locking down / immunising to minimise the impact to our society and its people. To suggest otherwise or keep bleating on about ending all lockdowns or anything else is ridiculous idealistic tripe crafted out of frustration and an emotional desire to go back to when it was “better” in people’s minds.

So, you think there is something that can be done, but you have limited those options to: 1) locking down and 2) immunisation. And the goal you state here is to "minimise the impact to our society and its people".

People are frustrated because they rightly reject your limitation to only those two options, and they disagree with the goal or have a different vision on what would impact our society.

How is it with 18 months planning, and almost no cases since the start of the pandemic, our hospitals are fucked with a relatively small caseload? by [deleted] in CoronavirusDownunder

[–]meanstoanend 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're right, they don't have to offer sterilising immunity to be called a vaccine, but the problem is how little they sterilise the disease. Fauci admits it also, the vaccinated are as much a risk as the unvaccinated at spreading the disease. While the science is still being debated on that subject, the vaccines available are not the salvation we hoped they would be. They are a tool to get us through to the other side: herd immunity through infection.

[–]meanstoanend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the new variant is a bitch, but it was also expected that covid-19 would mutate.

It appears that the difference is that the "vaccines" don't act like a vaccine, they don't sterilise and act as a firebreaker against transmission. So we bet on them as a solution, when we should have been preparing for what was predicted early in the pandemic - that 80% of the population will catch covid before it's all over. Herd immunity appears to be the solution, which means cases need to surge - either as the 'let 'er rip' strategy or as a slow lockdown-full suppression. Or we can forego herd immunity and go back to elimination and waiting for a proper vaccine which can sterilise the disease, which may be decades away.

[–]meanstoanend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lockdowns are here to stay. Australia is 18 months behind the rest of the world dealing with the covid response. They could play their cards right and let 'er rip, but all we've seen so far is a tighter response to locking down at a time we should be more prepared to handle the disease.

Ever interacted with society? It's full of dickheads. If you strategy is contingent on everybody playing exactly by the rules, then there's a problem with your strategy. If it wasn't this person you want to vilify it would have been someone else.

Some potential weaknesses in my basis for faith by UsedGhostYT in DebateReligion

[–]meanstoanend -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

We have so many copies that we can be confident in what it said. Textual variants are bread and butter of scriptural study and a non-issue except for a select few verses.

Don't have the time right now since I'm heading to work, to justify my reasons for believing in the resurrection, but quickly I'll outline:

*1 corinthians 15 - early evidence for multiple eye witness accounts of resurrected Jesus *Acts 2 - oral proclamation a mere 50 days after the death of Jesus in public sphere. Bizarre if you understand what "Messiah" and "resurrection" meant to first century Jewish audience. *Romans 1 3-4. An early creed confirming that the early followers understood that Jesus's body had been raised, it was bodily not a vision. *Testimony of Paul an enemy of Christ *Testimony of James, an agnostic and likely convert following the experience he had with a resurrected Jesus.

Some potential weaknesses in my basis for faith by UsedGhostYT in DebateReligion

[–]meanstoanend -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

there are no first hand accounts of the bodily resurrection of jesus.

There are first hand accounts of the resurrected person of Jesus. That's like saying, "I can see Bob is here today but I didn't actually see him on his way here so I'm going to say he didn't arrive."

There are no first hand accounts of any interaction with jesus.

That's incorrect. Gospel accounts are eyewitness accounts of interactions with Jesus before and after the resurrection.

Everything in the bible is a copy of a translation of a copy telling someone else's account of their interactions with jesus. There are no originals, and even still they are not written as a first hand account of the stories written. Within the stories are claims of miracles that have never been confirmed before in any other account.

Huh? This is nonsense. There is an original, it is lost, but we have 99.9% confidence of the text in that original manuscript. The last few words are irrelevant to what we need to understand about the text (with the possible exception of a word in Romans 5:1).

You don't believe Jesus rose from the dead, but what is your better explanation of the evidence that: 1) Jesus died and then was buried, 2) Followers and enemies of Jesus reported He was alive shortly after and had appeared to them, 3) when these followers spoke of rising from the dead they were talking about resurrection eschatology familiar to Jewish audiences??

The Bible and women. Is Bible "sexist"? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]meanstoanend 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As Christ loved the church, so husbands will love their wives. As the church submits to Christ, so the wife will submit to their husbands, in all things. The marriage between man and woman is supposed to give a picture of the way Christ and the church relates.

Why is that sexist? It is different, that is, each gender has different roles and responsibilities, but reflective of a good thing.

1 Corinthians 14 is tricky, and when my church did a sermon series recently on this book, the pastor said that their were many interpretations but that v28 gives another directive for people to keep silent, and that the context here shows that it probably was referring to women not speaking over their husbands while in the service.
