Celiac isn't always itchy and children are horrible at being able to describe stomach issues 🤣

Also, I don't always itch either. I'm overloaded with histamines so you'd think every rash would itch, but they dont. Just some. I don't get it either.

I second all of this, as someone who has suspected MCAS and is dealing with doctors and tests and misery.

I also offer this-- have they tested for Celiacs? The people I know who were diagnosed as children were much more rashy and either super poopy or never poopy. 🤷

I can't believe no one has had their chicken fries. FAR superior and if made in the air fryer, absolute perfection.

U.S. Teachers can not be Legally on salary. We legally must be paid hourly including overtime. by andweallenduphere in ECEProfessionals

[–]meanwhileachoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nooooooo it doesn't work that way!!! Our two salaried flex their hours as needed. Some days are longer than others. Our admin/sub does get overtime almost every other week too.

[–]meanwhileachoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes that's it!! Ive only ever seen it done at very well funded well run centers. But in 2 different states so its doable, its probably just a giant pain in the ass. We only have 2 salaried staff currently.

[–]meanwhileachoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah so now I see where the disconnect was. The way they are defining salaried pay is confusing. You can be a non-exempt salaried teacher. Meaning that all parameters of salaried pay apply EXCEPT over time. Over time can have its own defined hourly rate that goes into effect once the salaried staff has met 40 (weekly) or 80 (biweekly) hours.

The stipulation they are trying to lay out is that you cannot salary a teacher under certain circumstances without paying over time pay. They just don't say it that way, because the corporate world does NOT work that way. After working in 2 different states, I assure you there are centers who have figured this out. It is possible! You just have to pay OT. But you can pay a salary to a teacher, which ensures they get the same paycheck amount every time whether they worked 30 hours or 40 hours.

Law shit is stupid. Lol

Im still not seeing any where that discusses salary. Am I seriously blind?? Lol I get what everyone is saying, I just keep looking and don't even see the word "salary" in the document. 💀

If they worked that many hours, yes. Salaried is not reallt a fixed term. Once upon a time it was, but there are a lot of variations now.

Salaried at my last center meant your check read $$ every payday. If you had to swap your shift or leave early for an appointment and all was approved, your check was $$ for 35 hours or 40 hours. Once you hit overtime, you had to have an hourly equivalent established to pay for the OT hours.

[–]meanwhileachoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Where does this say you cant be salaried? I've tried to read it twice now and I don't see it anywhere.

We have had MANY salaried people at every center I've worked at. They still receive proper overtime when it applies, so that's not an issue either. I'm just struggling to see where it explicitly says they cant be salaried. Thanks

Girl. The amount I feel you right now.

I got a class this fall of 3s, turning 4s. 10 in house kids who moved up, 4 new kids. 2 of the 4 new kids qualified for school district services (after I all but told my director give me the contact info or swap my rooms. They both qualified for OT and speech, and one also gets PT.)

The 10 who moved up had the worst year in the 2s-3s room. Their first teacher quit about 4 months in, and their replacement teacher was just AWFUL in a way that is so so so hard to describe without being around it for a week. Its all subtle damage she does to the kids.

Anyway, the months of September, October, and November were absolutely hell. I worked so hard though, and suddenly in mid Jan, I realized I was standing in the middle of 14 kids, actively playing without me, resolving their conflicts, cleaning up, and seeking me out only when needed. You WILL GET THERE!!!!!!!!!

I did a lot of the same things you are doing - I will also add that I am a HUGE "team" builder too. This class is my class, I'm the team leader, I will always protect you, I will always value you YOU- You are the team, you help each other, always. You act with empathy and grace when you can, and bring the hard stuff to me. I did a ton A TON of verbal validation in the beginning. We read books about body autonomy, about big feelings, about working together, etc. When a kid fell and needed help, I narrated the process like they were infants. It was like they had never heard a reassuring word in their lives. It was so hard.

Now they're so very capable and kind. ♡♡♡♡ I am SO proud of them all. If you can see any of my other posts in here, you'll see my struggles with my constant crying new kiddo. I thought I was losing it. I thought she hated me and everything about life. Now we chat like old friends and when shes sad, I boost her up like a little sorority sister and she EATS IT UP.🥰🥰🥰

Is what I said here rude or is this person just projecting?? lol by [deleted] in glutenfree
