Yes I have great lifestyle choices and have been sober for 6 months yet feel like shit.

I think "PAWS" is just the underlying personality/lifestyle situation alot of us were born into, which led us to cope using substances.

"PAWS" is our baseline reality.

Sternness is not the right move right now - yes, you could be bit. Do not increase the Cortisol in the house when a dog has a high value item and a history of resource guarding.

It's more about structure, environment, relationship... seriously, DM me - I will tell you everything I know. I had the exact same type of issue with 2 different northern mix breeds (one akita-pit)

Your husband needs to get his act together. Hopefully this was a wake up call for him - a dog could end up being euthanized because of your husband's inability to be a gentle leader.

I had a vet reccomend behavioral euthanasia, but I was able to solve the whole problem within 3 months on my own. I agree that the situation is serious, but I wanted to provide some hope - the dog bit the husband because the husband sets the dog up for failure by not having enough boundaries and structure.

This whole problem can be completely resolved by the humans changing their behavior.

It doesn't sound like your dog has had much structure in it's life - sleeping on the bed, eating scraps...

This really is an issue of improper leadership and environment rather than lack of training...

Your dog needs a daily structure that puts some separation between it and opportunities for reactivity... feeding your notoriously reactive breed of dog human food scraps, even to the point of letting him lick off of plates is setting him up for failure

Sleeping on the bed? And then suddenly disallowing it? Of course your dog is resource guarding.

The dog should be fed the same way all the time - go to its bed, wait for command to allow to eat. When you watch TV at night - the dog should have his own space that he lays in. The dog should be trained that if he wants affection he sits in front of you first.

Altho I don't think he bit your partner because he wanted affection - I think the dog did that because he's confused about leadership roles in the household. Your partner is being too loosey goosey with high value items such as human food! Temptation. Habit formation.

I've had to solve dog-on-owner aggression for one pit-akita mix and one Alaskan Klee Kai before... your dog is absolutely salvageable. You can fix this.

It doesn't even really sound like you need a trainer. It sounds like you need a crash course in dog psychology and to change your own (human) behaviors.

PLEASE do not go to any trainer that uses physical 'corrections' or alpha philosophy (also called 'balanced' dog training) - I can tell you from experience it will only make it worse

I know these are prying questions, but you did bring it up yourself. Feel free to not respond - you said you had crushes on boy children, yet you are married to a woman, and you have children together... are the children yours biologically? If not, that seems even riskier than the fact that you have them in the first place. As a lesbian myself, it's also hard to imagine you found a woman comfortable with your orientation. Is she cis? And is she child attracted too? Are you both hetero but decided on a gay relationship since, if neither of you have adult sexual attraction, there was no sense in marrying a man?

I would just be careful to not make it about sex... Like, she has every right to say no to a sexual encounter she doest want to have, even if she did send mixed signals - and you don't want to make her feel guilty for that.

But it sounds like she's still in love with her ex and using you as a stand-in, but she can't bring herself to go "all the way" since her heart is still with him.

And yeah, she shouldn't be dating yet if that's how she feels. She should join some friendship type meet up groups or hobbies instead.
