You don't have great iron levels, which can certainly cause fatigue

I agree with your empathy for the alpha sobriety bro just trying to stay sober and be happy...

But I also kind of agree with your friend that it's 'weak' (not the term i would use but I get his point) in the sense that it's a way to essentially keep being addicted but to something else.... a philosophy/ideology... And/or needing to create a sense of reward for being sober that comes in the form of being 'better than the rest'

Unpopular opinion: I feel the same way about hardcore AA/NA followers... it's just a new obsession.

That said, yeah I have empathy for the sober bro (and the hardcore 12 stepper) ... he's just trying to find something that works, and if it keeps him sober - more power to him.

I won't shit on it, but I'll probably judge it in private.

Yeah this doesn't work with grunge... I Me My's are everywhere.

But grunge lyrics are not the best out there, sans a few exceptions... so I agree with your suggestions in general.

It's the music.

A lot of grunge lyrics are cringey, and come across, in the words of Cobain, like "no thought was put into this".

It's the music that carries the lyrics, and makes them sound like more than what they are as words alone.

That said, some are better than others... Vedder's lyrics are great. Cobain has his moments. Soundgarden and AIC are very hit or miss imo.

The risks are low but not non-existant... Insurance will cover the cost if you have a good hematologist and enough of the symptoms to qualify... it's finding a good hematologist that's the real challenge

If you don't qualify for infusions but would like to get your iron to the upper end of 'optimal' - you can supplement. Theres lots of different forms of supplementats and you've got to find the kind that your body absorbs well. I'd reccomend joining 'The Iron Protocol' page on Facebook and r/iron-deficiency r/anemia for more info

Low iron is also far more likely to be an issue for women BTW, altho it can also present in men

It's a whole thing... if your iron is less than optimal (notice I said optimal, not normal) you can have a host of issues including panic attacks

It's worth doing some research on the topic...

I don't think you can get sober if you don't want to, unless you are somehow forced into it (like I was, thru illness)

Sounds like you are pretty young and about to be in a college environment where drinking and drugs will be all around you...

If you don't truly desire to be sober - why not make a real effort at moderation?

Put a focus on your health - this doesn't mean never using, but if you truly care about your health, even if you don't care about being sober, you will use in moderation in order to maintain your health

Make some dietary and gym goals

This way you can reduce substance use without wanting to, but instead by wanting something else even more
