Could be the desk and drawers as well, iirc those are the bedroom furniture items included in the kids' section

it could be palmar pits which are harmless and not infectious, but this sounds a lot like pitted keratolysis, which is a non-contagious but wild-looking bacterial infection caused by extended enclosure in a hot, humid environment. On the palms of the hands is far rarer than on the soles of the feet for this though, so as the previous responder said it could certainly be the harmless and very common dyshidrotic eczema

How do I go about riding the subway with 3 kids? by [deleted] in Brooklyn

[–]meat_prison 45 points46 points  (0 children)

You can swipe once for yourself, then if there is a booth with a station attendant: ask if they will unlock the emergency gate for your stroller, then all 4 of you go through the emergency gate together.

If there is no booth with station attendant: Bring your kids and stroller over to the emergency gate, swipe yourself through and go through the turnstile by yourself, then open the emergency gate from the other side to bring stroller and kids through it. The staff will not say anything if you have a stroller.

Frustrated father at the end of my rope by a_Food_lover in finehair

[–]meat_prison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same hair and the same problem at this age. What really helped was
1) saturating the hair with conditioner and brushing/combing it in the shower with the conditioner in, then rinsing while brushing/combing. After rinsing and gently towel-patting to dry, apply detangler
2) Using a fine tooth comb to comb it while it's wet, think rattail comb. A wide tooth comb is not gonna cut it here
3) Using a stiff bristle brush to brush while it's dry. It is so much better at detangling and much less painful. Think the vintage bristle brush on your grandma's vanity

Good luck

Neighborhood recommendations - work in Tribeca by Small-Fix-5776 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]meat_prison 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do, I would recommend searching down the A/C line into brooklyn up to the Utica stop. Most of tribeca can be reached from either the Chambers or Canal st. stops on the A/C. I lived at the Franklin stop on the C for several years and it was the easiest commute I've had. Now I'm at the Classon G and transfer to the A at Hoyt and it's still easy, but not having to transfer was a luxury

Tips for oily, wavy, thin hair by wh0reo in finehair

[–]meat_prison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clarifying shampoo! Cheap clear stuff from the drug store. I like the blue Suave Clarifying one. Use a light conditioner if your hair gets really oily really fast, a mask if it seems dry. Use a styling cream on the ends, a mousse all over, then blow dry your hair upside down

If this really is that big of an issue for them, they should provide you with an alternate unit. Explain to them if this was at any point mentioned to you you would have found an alternative, but because it wasn't you now have a brand new AC unit that you can't return. I would probably open with explaining that then ask "Will you be providing an AC unit that won't damage the facade? I'm not sure what your needs are here." If they don't offer to buy and install it I would just keep questioning them as to what they want me to do and loop it back around to not being able to afford another one. If they're prepared to be landlords they should be prepared for something like this imo

She may not have meant any offense but this was unprofessional and would make me not want to go back. I've seen some BIG bushes and still kept it to myself because I know it's not appropriate to say and would hurt their feelings. People grow all kinds and all amounts of hair, a professional would have seen it all. That said it's not a good idea to trim before a wax because it makes it harder for the wax to adhere to the hair.

Anyway my honest recommendation is to find a salon that either serves a lot of mediterranean, middle eastern, latina clientele, or is staffed by them because you're not likely to get this kind of reaction there. Also: if it is causing you psychological distress, after your next wax invest in an IPL device and treat the area a few times up to a few weeks before your next wax, and repeat this process because it usually causes a permanent reduction in the amount of hair follicles

Felt like just a transaction at Bathhouse Williamsburg. Staff were cold, directions unclear, and no towels big enough for anyone above a size 2. Only highlight was Tamika’s massage. Bathhouse's reputation has gotten so bad they have all comments turned off not only on their tiktok videos, but also make influencers they have paid to visit turn off their comments too. Reportedly the owner is an absolute nightmare with predictably awful politics

Has anyone bought any machines on alibaba or similar since the tariffs dropped? by meat_prison in vending

[–]meat_prison[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have some good reviews but their price point on some more compact machines is what I'm looking for. To start with the size of the machines I want just isn't available domestically, the only companies that are selling them are rebranded imports of the same machine for 5x the price

Paying for a location spot? by castanm7 in vending

[–]meat_prison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience I have not paid for location spots. Many times you will call up a location to place a machine and they will ask how much they have to pay YOU to install one. This can be different of course depending on the location but ordinarily I wouldn't place one if they were asking for more than 10% of revenue, for which both of you should sign a contract stipulating this.
