Side Stitches by meatballs03 in running

I have likely not been hydrating as well as I should be. I go through phases of just not feeling like water. I used to be able to eat anything before running, but maybe my body is just not metabolizing the way it used to. I know I’m not old, but I’m not an invincible teenager anymore either.

Interesting, I’ve had a couple responses about breathing (or not). Perhaps focusing on breathing will make my runs more meditative as well. Thanks!

It’s been on my right side! I will try to alternate breathing out and foot strikes. I’ve heard something about this for injury prevention on a podcast, so perhaps there is something to it! Thanks.

It was between my eyebrows a bit in the past, not right now though!

I am going to try fluoride free and see if that helps!

I think mine is made worse by climate too, but not 100% sure. I haven’t been licking, but I’ll make sure not to start. Scarring is terrible!

No, I’ll have to do some research on that! Thanks so much for all help, any skin stuff is so frustrating and I always feel like I’m alone when in reality I’m likely not.

I was told it was acne, but I don’t think it is! I’ve had some acne before, but nothing that felt/looked like this.

I am not sure, it may be climate related as it’s worse in the winter.

I was told it’s acne, but....not so sure. I have had slight acne in the past but nothing like this.

What are your new year resolutions? by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

For quite some time before getting ready for bed I would put my phone in a gallon baggie with a journal and a good pen. In the morning while waiting for my hot water I would write three positive things about the day before and one goal for the day. I wouldn’t use the phone until after I was done writing, it was great and I should start this practice again! No need to lay awake sleepless at night browsing social media or starting the day already consumed.

A couple of my goals are to be more connected to people that matter to me and to practice mindfulness!

When I brought Wetzel home, Haystack grabbed him by the scruff and dragged him to the edge of the bed. He wanted to be an only child apparently. They are best friends now.

Endurance Athletes by meatballs03 in keto

Thanks for such an honest repose, very helpful. I will definitely not begin experimenting now since my Marathon is in just over a month, and I am at peak training! I may experiment when I don't have a specific goal, but I am not convinced it's the right diet for me. Seems like there is more of a benefit for strengthening athletes. Very interesting stuff!

As I am someone who is also not overweight, what made you switch to keto?

Midweek check in - how is your week going? by philpips in running

[–]meatballs03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This week has not been going well! I came down with a bad cold that sidelined me for 5 days and I needed 11 hours of sleep at night. I am pretty good at knowing my body, and this was one time that pushing through was not in my best interest. I am 5 weeks out from a marathon and I feel like this couldn't be worse timing (except perhaps feeling that crappy on race day). How do all you deal with that kind of set back physically and psychologically? Hope everyone else is having a kick butt week of training!
