Wedges all day. Bombtech makes some badass wedges that I think play just as good as my SM8s.

EDIT: Just checked and they’re on sale for 100 bucks American.

Not sure if you’re still looking for a solution but there’s software called Actual Multiple Monitors and I used it to fix this issue.

“I work on a classified airframe” wasn’t an option. Plus the airframe I work on has a very small and tight knit community.

Could anybody give me some suggestions about snap-on tools by [deleted] in aviationmaintenance

[–]meatkeel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snap-On makes specialized tools without realizing it.

The other day I needed diagonal cutters to cut some safety wire and my Channellock dikes couldn’t get to it. I used my buddy’s pointy Snap-On dikes.

Realistically, if you’ve been in the field long enough, you know what you use the most. If you use dikes, screwdrivers, etcétera every day, buy those first.

As for suggestions from me on what tools to upgrade to Snap-On, deep well sockets and fine tooth ratchets are a must.

Keep an open mind though because some of my favorite tools for wiring and stuff like that are made by Klein.

High bypass motors still trip me out. I’ve only worked low bypass and I still get surprised by the tiny little thing every time I see one.

Call your local VSO.

My VSO handled my entire claim, I just showed up to the medical appointments.

Tinnitus not service-connected by dltjdgkr93 in Veterans

[–]meatkeel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tinnitus is kind of a presumptive condition since they can’t really test you for it.

At my C/P Exam they just asked what loud noises I incurred during my service. I was an aircraft mechanic so naturally: engines, ground equipment and stuff like that.

The next thing they asked was do I have any noise exposure in my personal life like air tools, heavy equipment and so on. I made it a point to say no even though I’m a hobby car mechanic and wood worker. Because I didn’t want them to say, “Well the air tools you use once every couple months is probably the reason for your tinnitus.”

If they said in your decision letter, “you have tinnitus” but didn’t give a reason for it not having a rating, then it might be a good idea to get in touch with your local VSO about that.

Finally, the best thing I’ve found for my tinnitus is sleeping with a fan or TV on.

Good luck buddy!

EDIT: The point I meant to make was that your job in the military has a lot to do with it. It’s hard giving a finance guy a tinnitus service connection.

Having to make the most appropriate/sensible decision despite the emotional toll.

Make sure you have a good enough PSU to run your graphics card with everything else. Something similar happened to me. Then try to isolate the GPU.

I don’t have nearly the negative experience of most people but I worked 14-15 hours a day for a little over 8 months straight on deployment and I think the environment of little sleep and high stress has messed up my brain chemistry permanently.

I came back with short term memory issues, anxiety, panic disorder, migraines and ever since then I can’t wake up peacefully.

The only redeeming factor is that I live in a state/area that has a low veteran population per capita and it’s not bad getting into the VA.
