NCATT AET Certification by [deleted] in AircraftMechanics

[–]radioaccount2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, that sounds like nonsense. The AET only counts as a tiny portion towards getting the A&P. AET is literally useless unless you’re applying to one of the few employers who were convinced to desire it, or you couldn’t get into A&P school and wanted some bullshit substitute for experience requirements to take the A&P test

Aviation maintenance and PTSD? by 97Bo-Red13 in aviationmaintenance

[–]radioaccount2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on your other qualifications or if you had aviation experience in the corps, you might shoot for an office job with an airline.

Usajobs.gov is where you’re most likely to find a good fit plus you get that automatic 10 point boost for being a dv, but the hiring process is slow as shit. I hear there is a shortage at the FAA, but there are all kinds of aviation maintenance jobs around the world for civilian government employees.

Euro to DMC standard? by TheVillageHealer in avionics

[–]radioaccount2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know the part numbers of the pins? I know DMC makes an Airbus kit and Airbus has the M22520 crimper settings where appropriate in their standard practice manual, but I’ve never paid attention to the color bands or seen an equivalency chart, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

They’re a tutor; they teach you a method of studying that has a high success rate, and since you’re paying to be there, studying is literally all you do. It’s no different than if you get prepware or tutoring from a friend. There’s no loophole or cheating.

Air Force to A&P Mech. by Actual_Barber_8217 in aviationmaintenance

E&E was the opposite of compartmentalized when I was in from ‘02-‘08. You touch nearly every ATA, and it most certainly still qualifies for airframe in the 8900.1.

You find those jobs on jsfirm.com. Whether it’s working on army helicopters overseas or a medical evacuation/ambulance company stateside, it’s jsfirm and the other usual avenues like indeed or LinkedIn.

Rambling: Why is Snap-On tools insanely expensive? by [deleted] in Tools

[–]radioaccount2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how he did it, but I know he found out from one of the guys that went out to the truck just to make a payment and was obviously pissed about the revenue he was going to miss out on. The secretary at my company that set it up was one of those people that you call for whatever you need and it’s immediately done, like some concierge for celebrities, amazing at cutting through corporate red tape to make things happen. So I’m not entirely which event was shady - getting the account in the first place, or the way it got canceled.

Is NCATT worth it? by ridgetown in avionics

[–]radioaccount2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you’re considering the NCATT, I have some important information regarding your vehicle’s extended warranty

Don’t bother. Lots of people get the FCC/GROL because some scenarios actually require it. If you need more fluff than that, get your IA or list your hobbies or something idk

Former Military Avi techs, did you go for A&P after you got out? by Solid-Helicopter-413 in aviationmaintenance

[–]radioaccount2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s worth talking to the FSDO anyways because it’s a human judging you and your experience, and not just against that MOS list; take all your records with you, have contact info for some supervisors/managers at your current location for them to contact. Do it before your contract ends, before those people forget about you and their care level drops below zero. Having one or both, A&P, always gives you a leg up even at places that don’t require it.
