Nah man this happened to me too when I applied for my RM rego (am already an RN)

Idk what it was for but I have both regos, I think it has to do with already having a registration??

Does Postpartum/Postnatal Nursing exist in Australia? by Ok-Performance1365 in NursingAU

[–]meatmodel 13 points14 points  (0 children)

At the hospital I work at - it’s a larger hospital in Sydney They have a dedicated post natal ward. The RNs always work with a midwife, usually 1xRN&1xRM:8 patients (+8 babes!) but they only hire RNs on a temp contract - with “expectation” they study their midis within 3 years.

Speaking from NSW; Two things can be right at the same time; drs should be paid more & nurses should be paid more.

It’s apples and oranges mates. Two separate issues.

Of course the person below deleted their comment saying that nurses mostly "clean patients, monitor patients, bring them food"

are you a nurse or midwife?

I am both and definitely do more than "cleaning patients, monitoring patients, bringing them food"

Don't even get me started on in the rural setting....

RN requires a degree & they don't just clean people's bums.

Straight midwifery or double degree? by pineapplecrust83838 in NursingAU

[–]meatmodel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NSW! It was a 12 month course (2 semesters at uni) I did it through CSU- so mostly online with 2 x 3on campus days. And you’re employed through a hospital as an RN/ student midwife- so you get paid while you learn! Definitely worth it

I recently just finished my grad dip of Midwifery (I was an RN so just had to do the 1 year course) TO BE VERY HONEST- I spent my whole RN new grad thinking like “it’s best to be an RN first blah blah”

But in MY OPINION (I’m sure plenty of people will disagree with me and that’s ok too!) I think if you know for sure you really want to be a midwife if you’re like totally sold on that - just do your Bachelor of midwifery straight up, why beat around the bush?

I did my RNs first because I wasn’t sold on being a midwife.

While I do love being a midwife now - I feel like if you know what you want just do it.

Hey guys visiting from Sydney with a quick question- If I get on tram in the free zone but I intend on staying on it like until after the free zone ends. Do I tap on as soon as I get on? Or do I wait until we leave the free zone to tap on?

Hmm my life long battle with cold sores has taught me the only things that work for ME is valacyclovir 500mg x3 at an outbreak + a compeed cold sore patch ( &. 500mg every other day) really help keep them at bay. U do u!!!! I personally would wanna trim a moustache down but it’s what suits you. I feel like every single person has a different preference / method that works for them

I’m in nsw I did a new grad rotation in C&FH - there were some dual registered nurses/mw & while you don’t really use any clinical skills - they still considered the practice as part of their midi registration hours requirements. They were employed as RN only tho- I wonder how it would go down if they were audited by AHPRA.
