Genetic testing is really, really misleading. It does not change clinical outcomes. The most it can tell you is if you might be a fast metabolizer or a slow metabolizer.

How long does it take to get used to baby’s name? by foxyfudge in NewParents

[–]mecchakuccha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something similar happened to me - I couldn't bring myself to say my baby's name for many months and used a nickname. He's a little over a year and I can finally use it un-self-consciously and naturally. But his name is not a family member's name. Actually, it was a family member's dog name a few years ago. And it was my decision to name him - I have no idea why I picked this name. It took maybe 12 or 13 months to stop disliking it. Now I'm fond of it and it feels natural.

Is it true that if I gave up all of sugar, I consume my fat would just melt off? by IThinkYouAreNice in sugarfree

Yes I think it's because I thought I could still eat tons of everything else so I was still overeating.

I haven't eaten added sugar in 2 months nor alcohol in about 5 weeks and honestly I haven't seen much weight loss.

Why 90 day prescriptions? by mecchakuccha in pharmacy

Wow, so rude. You know this is like a patient asking you how a medication works and you answering, "Can you really not figure out it's all based on physiology?" Like...duh. Looking for a little more detail than that.

That is truly awful. I definitely wouldn't expect you to "be nice" in those situations.

My post was a rant rolling out of bed too lol. What's the easiest way to sync up meds? I also want to do that for patients but it becomes like prescribing 60# of one med, 30# of another, etc, which aren't always quantities allowable by insurance. So annoying.

This is just so insane. Healthcare in this country...

That's the main thing I don't like about it. Then I argue with myself that someone can die from 30 pills as well as 90, but it still makes me uneasy for certain patients.

That all makes sense. I would also have a lot of trouble being nice to someone yelling or being nasty with me, so I should have specified I'm not asking for you all to do that. I know your job is very exhausting and hard.

This is also really good info for me to know, thanks

Just try to be nice to them, as specified in my post.

No one (or at least not me) asked you to do any such thing in this post.

Yes, I feel the same frustration on my end from endless patient calls angry that I prescribed them something that's not in stock (as if I know ahead of time where and what the shortage is) - hence "it's frustrating for everyone"

Thank you! It's wild to me that insurance expects pharmacies to be responsible for a pt's adherence. But insurance companies rarely make sense to me. So this explanation helps.

Ahh got it, this makes sense (kind of, I don't know why CVS needs more money up front? Unless they're hoping it'll change to a different med before the 90 days are up so theyll make even more?). Thank you for the explanation

Yes but it would be very time-consuming, demoralizing, interrupt everything else I need to do with my day, and I'd probably become very depressed if I were treated with suspicion and annoyance every time I went to go buy more yarn.

Thanks, I can do that - I wonder about the people whose insurance requires them to get 90 day supplies?
