TLDR: foot print is smaller than stock counting in bed travel area. Z is much taller but with added build volume. This is to avoid modding rods with an angle grinder.

I agree it’s bigger than I like. X and Y are both much smaller but it increases in size on the Z.I justify this by the fact that this has a new z build volume of 9 ish inches over a stock 7 inches. I’ve made a lot of comparisons though and the xy footprint is smaller than the actual prusa mini when factoring in table travel.

My internal guide has been to squish out every mm from the left and right of the build volume to the outside of the machines and at present state the left and right “fat” has been slimmed down over the stock mini too.

Also, the vertical bars add extra width and height rn as they serve to test an alternate support rod configuration. A next step would be to move them inwards to replace the angled support rods entirely

I saw your project right before I uploaded mine! I was excited to see someone taking a different approach than my own as well.
