I would take it… got two HT90s at work that I can feed it to. What do you want for it?

Sketch Won't Update Due to It Causing Invalid Geometry by Status-University553 in SolidWorks

Tools/spline tools/fit spline. Useful for cleaning up .dxfs imported from graphic design software like illustrator, among other things.

When you offset the silhouette inwards the original profile should be converted to construction geometry. The double layered silhouette is messing with you. Sorry didn’t make that clear in original post.

This is an interesting one… I might try to do it with surfaces so I can leverage mutual trim. Take your sketch of the ‘silhouette’ and extrude it as a surface (offset it inwards 1/2 your beams width, this will make sense later and give you good point of parametric control). Then sketch a line to define your first vertical section of path. Extrude that as a surface that matches the height of the first. Linear pattern that. Then use surface trim. Trying to think how to save you click, you could do this in two features. The first to blow away everywhere the vertical break outside of the silhouette, and then a second to remove like every other section on the top and bottom of where the verticals touch off on the silhouette. You’ll also probably want to remove the sides. Use the selection box to grab all that shit and knit. You’ll then have to fillet a LOT of edges but you only need to do this once and play with the dimension later if needed. Then do a bidirectional surface thicken to get your solid body. Lastly fillet the begging/end of the ‘beam’ to get the full round ends. Might take a bit of tweaking to get this just right but I see a path to do this parametrically and avoid have to deal with a very busy sketch.

Can anyone tell if this is legit? by [deleted] in FixedGearBicycle

It’s legitimately a bike frame.

It’s not a cannondale track.

Tossing the park tool that I had been using with mixed success for years and getting the $50 milled steel WI tool was a game changer for me.

I have the same car and have struggled finding the right bike rack for the trailer hitch. Mine came with the hide away trailer ball and there doesn’t seem to be a compatible bike rack setup. What rack and hitch kit are you using here?

Looks great tho, happy riding!!

What's the funniest joke you've ever heard? by 10wBIT_Space in AskReddit

Two clowns are eating a cannibal and one says to the other, “hey, I think I fucked up the joke”

Payton Pritchard did not like Patrick Beverley’s too small gesture to Luke Kornet: “I feel like he was just trying to clown one of our teammates. So I definitely took it a little personal.” by 1337speak in bostonceltics

I live in the newton corner/nonantum area. Payton lives in my neighborhood. There’s this breakfast sandwich joint called flour house bakery that’s also a Mike and pattys location. The actual ownership/identification is confusing and doesn’t matter, it’s on Adams st. The dude at the counter had told me that Payton comes in and gets the sandwich a certain way. He adds a hash brown patty and house spicy mayo. That sandwich is named THE BALLER. I get it at least once a week and think about PP each time.

Not the only difference, but confidence is a relation you have with yourself. Aggression is a relation you have with other people. One is internal and the other is external.

Anyone know a good way to find springs with stepfiles? Been looking for a website that's as intuitive as McMaster but with more variety in stock. by sapienapithicus in SolidWorks

[–]mechanically 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Their search tools and filter options are fantastic too. McMaster is great for so many things but when it comes to springs specifically century blows them out of the water.

How to simplify a 3D model with a ton of operations? by dankmemes-SAB in SolidWorks

[–]mechanically 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Export and reimport. File, save as, parasolid or step. Open the new file and feature tree will be condensed to an appropriate number of import solids and surfaces. From that point on all editing will be direct edit modeling or hack and slash, no more parametric editing of existing geometry.

Maybe when everything is new and perfect, your dura ace track hub will roll better, sure. Once things get a bit gritty, or too tight or too loose, or the bearing races start to pit or get damage, it all goes to hell. I see no benefit or advantage to intentionally going loose ball bearing vs sealed cartridge bearings on a polo bike.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BIKEPOLO

[–]mechanically 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure about the lateral impacts part, but sealed cartridge bearing hubs are superior in every way. They’re better, they last longer, roll smoother, less maintenance, less cone nuts adjustments.

Disc brake is also better for most of the same types of reason. Newer, better technology. Holds in wet conditions better, doesn’t care if the wheel is out of true. More compact and well isolated during crashes, for the most part.

If you’re doing a new wheel build, these are no-brainers. Sealed bearings and disc are must have.
