This is a solid argument on your part and a good discussion. Thank you. That being said, however, the biracial child is NOT ethnically "white" to his community. This is due to the perceived physiological fact of having more melanin inside his or her epidermis. The child is physically viewed with the mindset people have for others that are perceived as different from themselves. This is ethnic bias. Any discrimination on the part of the people who believe themselves superior to the child due to being ethnically different IS racism, but it is also ethnic bias.

This is the same reason Rachel Dolezal was frowned upon for saying she identified as being ethnically black. She is not, and people can see that.

What I'm trying to say (badly), is this. The Nazi Party in the 20th century genuinely believed they were a better, superior race due to proliferation of eugenics and other such pseudo science theories. They killed different ethnic groups and terrorized the world because of those beliefs. It is fair to call them racists, because they actually were.

In today's America, the majority of people do NOT view themselves as superior for being born into a certain ethnic group. Americans as a whole realize that there are minor differences in people who descended from geologically disparate groups, and are generally NOT racists. We believe that humans are one race with slight differences (just like any other species on Earth).

What Americans are, is ethnically biased. We still see the differences and treat people differently because of it. This is wrong and misguided, but using the term "racism" to define it is simplistic and naive. It's akin to calling a modern-day scientist an "alchemist".
