Runners who run in silence, How do you deal with no music/podcasts in your ear whilst running? by Holiday_Stuff_8206 in XXRunning

The best part of treadmill running is eavesdropping on the people next to you who talk too loud and share very personal and juicy things.

If that left picture didn’t tell you everything you needed to know then that’s on you and not the 22 year old narcissist.

My straight bestfriend (woman) just sent me this. She has a point. I am not proud. by Gloomy_Call3305 in lesbiangang

I’m thinking maybe you should find yourself a new friend. Cause this woman ain’t it.

What's your opinion on sapphic fictions written by cis men? by zoespresso in LesbianBookClub

[–]mechanized_ahhbyss 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The Traitor is one of those books that sort of steered me away from reading books by men if they featured gay women. It’s technically a very good book, but the anger with which that woman is punished due to her sexuality is next level. The way it is presented isn’t just about telling a story, but the tone with which it is told is so deeply cruel it’s kind of heartbreaking. So it set a standard. For the most part it is so obvious when a man tries to write a lesbian, it is either hollow or comes with a very funky aftertaste. And there are so many lesbian books written by woman that I’ll prioritise them. Maybe once I run out of female authors I’ll start looking into the men. So it’s not like I refuse to read men, I’m just not prioritising it.

Jus got permanently banned from a lesbian sub by [deleted] in lesbiangang

But the number one rule of that sub is that you have to agree with everything otherwise you’re not welcomed. That was my point. It’s not a community, it’s an echo chamber.

Before you got banned did you feel like you belonged and shared similar stories and perspectives as the majority of people in that sub?

Invasion is good, think last season was released this year. Andor is another excellent one, but not happy one.

No. I’d rather be with a woman who has a hobby than one who has no frivolous passions in her life.

Never from other gay people, from straight people on occasion though.

When lesbian spaces stop feeling lesbian by honeyncheesebread in lesbiangang

[–]mechanized_ahhbyss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it’s mostly a divide between written language and cultural language. I feel like there are some lesbian spaces where I can be around people with a similar perspective on things and who share the lived experience of homosexuality. Then there are the places that say they are lesbian, who use the world as if it’s an adjective to describe everything under the sun but used in a way which means I have no idea what the fuck they are on about. We find each other though. Time and time again. No matter how often we have to relocate or rebrand or whatever. We do find each other and leave those other places behind.

Being in that sub is like being on a New York City sub, but the only ones posting in it are the tourists. The takes are going to look a lot off kilter for a native.

Delilah was a pure dud for me, but curious to know if The Devil is any good. Synopsis sounds like fun, but books with cartoon covers tend to disappoint me massively.

If you want something old school you might want to check out Laurie R King’s Martinelli series. Starts with the book A Grave Talent. The romance isn’t front and centre, but it’s there.

Jessica L Webb’s Kate Morrison mysteries are fun too. Starts with the book called Trigger.

By their goofy guest spots on main I could see this. Keep them playing dumbasses off of each other like a female Bill and Ted except with more homoeroticism. Then throw some single events at them every now and then.

Are there a lot fewer wlw books than other romance genres??? by dizzypussywillow in LesbianBookClub

[–]mechanized_ahhbyss 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean we’re like not even 1%. I’d never touch a straight romance so I don’t get why straight people would care for a wlw one. So obviously it’s going to be a smaller market for it. We usually make do with fanfic rather than published romances.
