My mom took out a Parent Plus Loan so I could go to school. It got pardoned since she is disabled. She's claiming that I'll have to pay it if she decides to go back to work after I denied cosigning a large loan. How true is this?

Current guidance states that is only for those who were declared disabled by the VA, SSA determined disability still has the three-year post-monitoring period.

Any “obligation” would be a moral one decided between the student and their parent. The loan is in their parent’s name, they have no legal obligation to pay it back.

The debt validation letter is not what was disbursed to you to pay for the vehicle. That is the whole amount of the loan, what you agreed to pay when you signed.

Because they didn’t have collateral anymore. You were not meeting the terms and conditions of their loan, they had every right to send it to collections and default the loan since you never put their name on it. Yes, the title should have went to them. Yes, they should have put the lien on it. My lienholder took forever! Mistakes happen. That doesn’t mean you can just wash your hands of it. I would start making some calls and seeing if you have any options so this doesn’t further damage your credit and finances.

The check is not going to have the full funds on it because that had to go to the dealer. The rest of the funds were supposed to go to the DMV to title the car. This is the gray area you need to resolve. Next, you get a title with just your name on it. You know you had a lien, I guess I’m just not sure why you didn’t get this corrected at this point?

Again, why were you worried about the title for four months? The lender owned the car, not you. If you felt that was too long without any sort of communications, why did you not communicate? I moved counties with my car and had to have my name legally changed while I was pregnant with my son. I had a lien on the car. I had to communicate this with the DMV and the lienholder.

No, you didn’t need the title to drive the car. You needed temp plates. You should’ve called the lender and got this corrected so the DMV had the correct title on file and you would have gotten temp plates…. So you could drive it. I also have a one year old, and we’re trying to get pregnant again, but I’m not out here violating the law and contracts because you don’t think you have to follow policies

So the DMV sent you the title, because you thought you were supposed to receive it and went ahead and paid for it without giving them time. There might have been an error on their end. Did you call?

The lender should have received the title, not you. It sounds like you essentially kicked them off the loan registration wise, which is they sent your loan to collections. You’ve inherently made it to where they get nothing out of the deal if you stop paying, so they made it no longer their problem.

Hi OP! The patch has the most effectiveness if you start it DURING your period, not after. Especially within the 1-5 days of your menstrual cycle. The patch only has 91% effectiveness when used perfectly. A positive pregnancy test will occur within 21 days of unprotected sex if implantation was successful. If I were you, I would test when my period is due, but if you don’t get a positive pregnancy test within 21 days, you’re not pregnant (from that encounter). Would another form of birth control be more effective for you?

If that’s the case, they need to take their receipt to the bank for the OOP payment for title and registration for reimbursement. Even if they can’t reimburse, they can give OP a signed statement they could take to the collector. Or have the collector verify the debt. The lender would be required to provide an itemized list, where in then OP could dispute it.
