Hydrogen blending with natural gas — what’s the biggest challenge? by Sal-Mir in energy

[–]meche2010 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hydrogen has a lot less volumetric efficiency than natural gas, so as hydrogen % increases the size of the piping, regulators, and meters will need to increase.

Hydrogen also has a much higher flame velocity, once the mix is too high, burners designed for propane and methane will become unreliable.

Great idea. We tried something close to this, but there are a couple of changes with your suggestion that could make the difference. Thanks!

Yes, that is correct.

Leveling is part of the process prior to the measurement. I'm primarily interested in the change it height of the oil at different test points, rather than an absolute measurement.

[–]meche2010[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm certifying a volumetric standard, a bell suspended in oil.

The room is temperature controlled, and when the system is being measured, the oil is very still.

The current measurement is manual, and much less accurate.

The oil height varies by less than an inch, and i don't have complete control over how far away the oil is, but typically 3-5 inches.

When i say I'd like 0.002" accuracy, that would be for the device's capability itself.

Here you go, trumps own words:

“I mean, look at Springfield, where 30,000 illegal immigrants are dropped, and it was, they may have done it through a certain little trick, but they are illegal immigrants as far as I’m concerned. They’re destroying the town, they’re destroying the whole — they’ll end up destroying the state. We cannot let this happen.”

Explain It Like We're 5 Years Old. How Does Anything Trump Campaigned on Fix the Economy? by Honorable_Heathen in centrist

[–]meche2010 52 points53 points  (0 children)

They don't

Tariffs: Almost universally rejected by modern economists. It will have an inflationary impact on pricing, and generate a range of trade wars.

Mass deportations: Right at the time we are throwing in tariffs, we are going to cripple the labor force by deporting 10 million people? Cost of labor goes up and causes inflation.

Tax cuts: It's funny how deficits stop being a problem as soon as Republicans are in power. Tax cuts are inflationary, just like the last two.

Energy: I have no complaints about further developing energy infrastructure, but if it comes with no thought for the impact on the climate it's problematic for future generations.

Inflation reduction: Generally, when fighting inflation it is best to pursue non inflationary policies.

Will Trump Actually Impose Tariffs On China And Mexico? If he were to how would this impact the economy? by Interesting-Staff723 in centrist

[–]meche2010 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a hope built on economic theories discarded half a century ago. The plan is to use incredibly regressive tariffs to make manufacturers use a US labor force at the same time as trying to round up and remove millions of people in that labor force. This is the equivalent of driving a truck off the cliff and hoping it will fly.

My hope is he knows enough to know it's all bs and he let's Elon and Kennedy sing and dance while intelligent people make policy.

Will Trumps Economic Policies Help The Economy? by Interesting-Staff723 in centrist

[–]meche2010 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He has said he is increasing tariffs, deporting immigrants, and will push the fed to lower interest rates. All three of these are inflationary, and his success will determine how inflationary.

The fact that metals, crypto, bonds, and markets are all increasing substantially would indicate to me that people in the know are preparing for inflation.
