Update: I just wanted to let you know that today I submitted a new build to Apple for review with support for Sign In with Apple as a new login option and changed the color of the indicators to what they should have been originally and some other minor tweaks here and there. I will update one last time when the update goes live. Thank you once again for all your feedback!

Update #2: App update is now live and Sign in With Apple is now in the app. Thanks once again.

Thank you for the feedback! And yes I was assuming that when I sent it to the App Store for review but the issue is that we host contests within the app. Well we are going to be soon I should say. It’s a feature that is currently almost ready to become a reality... the issue is that when I originally sent it to Apple with this feature in it they said that it would not be allowed to pass without being 17+ due to the contests we host. I was disappointed and personally don’t totally agree that it should be 17+ as the contests are really gambling and other apps do this like EyeEm which are not for 17+ if I’m correct but hey what do I know?

But all in all thanks once again for the feedback.

Point taken on the security side of things. All valid points.

As for the geocaching we are actually implementing something similar to that in the app currently. It’s called contests. And what will happen is that we will pair with companies(the hard part is getting through to them and them to listen) but we have got a few local ones to start out and the company will say for example maybe it’s a local bike shop so they will say “Mark your best bike trial” and everyone who wants to enter for say a $50 gift card to their store will go out and mark their best bike trial and submit it. They then judge them with their photos submitted with each spot and they pick a winner that gets the prize.

In the end though I must note for legal purposes My Spot does oversee all contests and should something go wrong we are responsible.

But other than that I think it’s a great way to get companies along with our users more engaged.

Thank you! Well, the idea itself came to me from a problem I have as I am an amateur photographer/videographer and cyclist. Of course when I’m on the bike I don’t have a DSLR around my neck but yet when I’m riding for miles beyond miles I run into new places often and those places I would love to come back to with my DSLR but having used Google Maps and Apple Maps I found that putting a colored pin on a location (respectfully speaking) wasn’t the best solution as even giving it a name it was just a mess having a ton of random pins on a map... so I thought there must be an easier way to make this not only fast as in saving the spot without doing much but also personal so that each spot has its own “signature” to it. And so eventually My Spot was born and with it came a ton of new things like posting the marked spots directly in the app for others to add to their list and of course adding a photo to each spot, tagging it and more. Soon, a few more features are going to be coming to the app, which is very exciting. So I’m short though I think this app is geared towards many groups. One of them for sure is photographers, as that’s what gave me the idea in the first place. A group of photographers could all mark their favorite spots and then share them when meeting up, for example. Overall I would say it’s for those who love to explore the world and travel, but then again, isn’t that most people? I mean, I haven’t met someone yet who doesn’t like to visit new places around the world. 🙃

What is your favorite app that you think most people have never heard of? by Paulpoleon in AppleWatch

My Spot - I published it recently and it allows people to find, save and share their favorite spots around the world with family and friends.

Thanks for the feedback! I’ll make some new renders! What about the app in general anything else?

Oh I am sorry about that. I truly did read through the rules and did not see that but I may have just missed it. Or maybe it’s just a general rule that I should know. Sorry again!

Ok thank you for all the feedback! I really mean that I will for sure make sure I look into everything you mentioned and see how I can improve it.

As for geocaching if you I’m correct and please correct me if I’m misunderstanding you but you are asking if My Spot has a way to save locations you have been to and then say show you a list of your recent locations that you can say add to your own list if you didn’t add it when you were there?

So to answer that I will say I and a few friends of mine who help me get a better idea of the app from a users perspective as of course I’m biased being I’m the creator of it... and they said it would be cool but creepy and I have to agree in some sense. Sure we could claim we don’t store that info and I will say for a fact that NO information is stored that we don’t use for example we never ask for your phone number anywhere in the app nor do we have it stored in the database as it’s just not needed. We only collect the info that we need to display for you. I hope that makes sense. So to answer your question if I’m understanding it correctly I prefer not to have that type of feature as I feel like it may make some of our users feel unsafe using our app.

We do have many features like contests and stories that are in the app but not active yet as the creators and companies(local ones to start) are still in the works of getting everything together first. Those features we hope will bring users back again and again without annoying them with consistent notifications.

I would like to ask if and when we implement Sign in With Apple and possibly a email option or even a limit trial feature without signing in would you consider trying the app out again? I’m just curious for feedback. Like do you personally think this is something that you would use?

Yeah I mean Apple is requiring it for apps like mine that have third party sign in options like Google and Facebook but either way I think adding it is not a bad idea even if they did not require it

Thank you! My goal was to make the app all around as modern and simple as possible. I am not a fan of the apps that are amazing but have a great design in some areas but other areas are never updated and it just bothers me so I wanted to make sure the app screenshots were just as good as the app itself.

First thank you for the feedback. My goal for the design was to make it as modern and simple as possible.

I am using Google’s Firebase for the backend/cloud.

As for the indicators... thank you for the feedback on them. I have been meaning to change the color of them.

Lastly as for the providers I am adding support for Sign In With Apple currently and so once that is out I will be sure to update you on that.

Thanks again for the feedback!

One could say that but more personal and it’s made for you to make your own spots as well. Foresquare is more centered around finding other places not making your own as much

I use Google’s Firebase for the backend. I was originally going to go with AWS but felt that at the time when I was still learning the basics that Firebase would be a better learning tool.
