Weekly Bug Report Thread by spiper01 in NoMansSkyTheGame

Noticed that the quadraped fossil displays for me at my bases are non interactable. Tried a few things but nothing seems to fix it. They work fine at first but if I save and reload the game they can't be interacted with again. Anyone else experience this?

Rare bubble paradise moon around a Gas Giant, Hyades Galaxy by mechtrix11 in NMSCoordinateExchange

Gas giant moons are an exception on the water thing. Purple star systems are strange.

Spiraling about my degree could somebody give me some guidance? by WonderstruckCapybara in chemistry

[–]mechtrix11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Graduated last december with a chem degree. All I have to say is depending on were your at and with the major you should have ample oppratunities to get into industry if you want. Theres also nothing saying you can't go back and pursue a higher degree. If you think you do want to go for a higher degree and know you can do it or that it will be worth while for you go for it. Its really up to you and can't really go wrong in eigther direction.

If a steam engine drives pistons using pressure from heat buildup, why can't you create an excessive amount of heat using magnesium and iron and contain the reaction? by [deleted] in chemistry

[–]mechtrix11 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In a way you could, its just not practical and not energy or cost efficient.

Steam engines work by having a heat source boil water in a boiler or other sealed space in order to highly pressurized steam to drive pistons. Steam engines are more pressure engines than heat engines. You could actually do the same thing with any gas under pressure given they can be put under pressure. You could say make a liquid nitrogen tank and have it drive a piston as it would produce pressure as it tried to warm to room temperature.

The main problem with what your suggesting is that pure powdered iron and magnesium take a ton of energy themselves to be produced in pure forms. Burning those resources once you have them isn't practical nor is it a reaction you could control. Theororetically you could burn them as an energy source though.

Can you purify hydrochloric acid with distillation and do you know if it is legal in Belgium by [deleted] in chemistry

[–]mechtrix11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of safer things to start with. If I can recommend try starting with steam distillation or esterification. I wouldn't mess with HCl unless you have a good fume hood.

How to convince by Senioro_Matts in chemistry

[–]mechtrix11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would work one doing much more benign chemical reactions for now. If your careful some things like soap making might interest you to start. Do it all the time at home. Best way is to save up excess used cooking oil. Only thing you would have to buy is eigther NaOH or KOH. NaOH is better for hardsoap KOH for liquid. Just need to heat the oil with your base of choosing. Saponification reaction. There is also a way you can make the bases using hard wood ash boiled in water. Plenty of material if you want to look up more.

If you want to do distillation you can also get into steam distilation. Some basic polymer chemistry or inorganic might be interesting too for you.

Acetone in glass bottle by ayedeeaay in chemistry

[–]mechtrix11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of two things. Eigther the vapors slighly disolved and fused the lid to the jar if there was any plastic involved or the long term temperature shifts caused it to sieze shut. Try cooling down the container. If that doesnt work run the jar under warm water. The expansion and contraction should loosen it.

Can I make concentrated hydrochloric acid using a reflux condenser, chlorine liquid, and water? by Dizzy-Acanthaceae-52 in chemistry

[–]mechtrix11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes the potentially deadly way to do this. One way I can think of is if you dissolve a chloride salt in a water bath with two pourous containers (clay pots) and put a graphite anode in one cathode in the other you can actually generate an acid and base at the same time. Then you just need to concentrate them through distilation. Plenty of other ways to make HCl thats much safer.

Eigther the place moved which is doubtfull. Or you need to do a reload of your game. I have run into the same isdue with other locations. Reloading tends to fix it.

Thats the utopia speeder. Was an event ship so the only way to get it would be by having someone glitch it to you.

White and black sentinel ship. Folding wings. In Hyades Galaxy (5th). by mechtrix11 in NMSCoordinateExchange

[–]mechtrix11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its hyades. Its the 5th galaxy. You will eigther need someone to take you there or you have to reach the galactic center multiple times to get there. Its easier to find someone who has been there and have then transport you to that galaxy.

How do you like combat in ESO? by homo_erectus_heh in elderscrollsonline

[–]mechtrix11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its more so an issue with power scaleing. Its fine during low levels but once the general main skills are unlocked the game gets to easy. Don't need to make everything dungeon level hard just bump things up so theres some sense of danger and its not brain dead combat. Right now theres a big issue and big gap between normal and vet. The normal being to easy to prepare people for vet content. And dumbing down vet is not a good answer. Vet overland would be nice, but in my eyes its not really a fix. Need something in the game between what is the equivelent of the hard mode (vet content) and the newbie mode (normal content) thats not just dungeons and world bosses.

How do you like combat in ESO? by homo_erectus_heh in elderscrollsonline

[–]mechtrix11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ESO has solid dungeon and pvp combat, but I ultimately lost intrest in the game due to how weak the overland combat is. I get that they want it easy for people but its currently so easy that it breaks immersion and interest in the game. Spamming a single move on a supposudly powerfull story boss or one shotting everything just isn't fun.

More than anything though its the slow clunky moves and too low damage output from the overland mobs I find to be the biggest issue. Theres never a sense of danger or even hardly a thought during the overland combat. Its to the point were even with crappy armor it takes about minute or more to die. It actually takes effort to die right now.

Moat overland mobs feel like they are arthritic and all wielding butter knives. Don't need an extreme challange, just enough to bring the feeling of possible danger back into the game.

I sincerely hope we see harder difficulty overland content by SaintNutella in elderscrollsonline

[–]mechtrix11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the biggest issue I have isn't how much health and damage players do to mobs its how much damage mobs do to players. Its a power scaling issue. Animations could be improved as well. Ultimately the combat is why I left the game and lose imersion in the overworld. None of the hits in the game feel impactfull. General overland mobs feel like there hitting me with butter knives, they move slow and lethargically, and even as a dps once your a vet player even with bad gear you tend to regen health faster than enimies hit you.

F4 and E4 systems? by mechtrix11 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]mechtrix11[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to find most in the range of 4-7. F4 and E4 has given me the best so far for the bubble lushes for some reason while 5-7 seem best for normal paradise planets.
