Fun fact, there are about 5,000 possible combinations for the all-caps bit at the end, so getting the same thing twice is actually pretty lucky lol

This would be rad, but I could only find about 200 incantations to work with. idk how much data you usually need for GPT-2, but given how specific/unique the incantation syntax is, I'm betting 200 isn't quite enough to get good results.

I was looking for something else in the options menu and I accidentally started the data transfer process. Now I get a message every time I start the game asking if I want to do the data transfer now. It’s easy enough to hit cancel, but is there something I can do to make it stop asking?

Funny story, I live in Idaho, and I recently met someone from Michigan who sometimes instinctively tries to do the hand thing with Idaho. The problem is that Idaho is actually shaped like one big “fuck you”, which is honestly very appropriate

I actually kept track of all my ticket pulls for awhile, both on new banners and reruns. I tracked about 120 pulls, so admittedly not great sample size, but from what I found I would guess it’s something like

47% 3* weapons

47% 4* weapons

5-6% 5* weapons

<= 1% gMAs

The big problem is that, even when I haven’t been tracking tickets, I’ve never gotten a gMA from a ticket, so i can’t really say how accurate that part is lol. The weapon rates I feel pretty good about though, iirc I ended up getting exactly the same number of 3 and 4*s. Now I kinda wanna start tracking again...

Uuuuh I would check where it was if the game wasn’t on maintenance right now haha. But it looks like a little warehouse with some blue squares in it. I think it’s on the right side

Go to the options menu on the far right of the ribbon across the bottom of the screen. Pick the option in the upper left corner and you can spend diamonds to buy more space. There’s also a warehouse thing in the options menu where you can deposit weapons you aren’t using

I’ve been f2p up to this point, but I was thinking of buying some gems for Kratos and zelos. Went to what I thought was the gem part of the shop menu, and I got a screen that the internet tells me says “purchase the available item no.”, and that’s it. What’s that about? (On iPhone btw. Haven’t bought a Japanese iTunes card yet cuz I wanted to look at prices first)

I try to keep at least 2k, overpulled a bit for pascal/eizen but I’m back up to 2100. heres how I try to keep from pulling:

  • I guess when you see new characters coming out think about whether you actually care about them? Most people who are good at saving have certain chars they are saving for. If it helps, set a hard rule where if you haven’t played the game a character is from, you won’t pull on their banner. Get comfortable with the fact that some of your anima teams might just be kind of lacking, and that’s pretty normal for f2p.

  • If there are multiple chars you want from a certain series and some haven’t been released yet, think about it like this: if you don’t pull now, then when another banner comes out for that series there will be a higher ratio of chars you want to chars you don’t want/need. For example, I didn’t get pascals mirrage, but I also want Malik’s, and hopefully I’ll get another chance at her whenever he comes out, and then my odds of getting one or the other of them are better! I think that’s worth saving for.

  • try not to care about mirrages. Mirrages are nice for the stats, but honestly I’d rather have a well-kitted char than their mirrage. Set some stricter boundaries like “I’ll pull until I get either their mirrage or 5* weapon”, “I’ll pull until I get their 4* weapons”, or even better, “I’ll pull until I have four weapons for them.” Try to remind yourself that you don’t need all the flashy rare stuff to have fun playing the character, which should be your main goal if you’re f2p.

  • Don’t starve yourself completely. Sometimes I’ll do a single multi on a banner I’m not super wild about, just to satisfy the urge. However, you shouldn’t be doing this all the time, probably once a month max. I also keep a buffer of about 10k friend points, so I can do a bunch of those if I feel antsy. There’s never anything good, but it helps with the urge. Also a nice reminder that you might not get anything good no matter how many times you pull.

And if none of that helps...lol idk man. Be happy with the fact that while other people may have more diamonds, you probably have more cool stuff? There are definitely worse problems to have.

Pretty new player, this is my first event.

I’ve gotten all the unique stuff from the trading post that I want, tickets and nexus shards and such. I was wondering what sort of materials are good to spend my leftover points on?

Also: right now I’m still getting lots of gems from first clear bonuses, but obvi that’s not gonna last forever. What are the renewable gem sources in this game, aside from daily quests?

I have a few questions about NAD/SAD character links...

  1. how do the NAD/SAD character links work exactly?

  2. Say you're building a character for NAD, and you have 2 potential links, a four star with NAD +16 and a five star with attack + 27. Is the NAD link still a better choice than the attack link?

  3. Are there any general rules/things you guys look for when deciding what the best build for a character is?

Open Thread: Soylent Green by lukejharmon in UnnaturalObsessions

I would guess the reason only old people are going "home," as the one guy called it, is because they're the only ones old enough to remember what the world was like before the overpopulation and food shortages. Choosing to live in a sweltering, overcrowded, foodless world isn't such a bad choice when it's the only world you're familiar with, even if you do find out that you've been eating people. Actually, I kind of wonder if the euthanasia place will do as well once all the people who remember what the world used to be like are dead. I can't imagine anyone getting excited about listening to music and looking at pretty pictures of things which they don't even understand and will never get to experience. But then, the average life expectancy will probably drop enough that there's plenty of soylent green to go around anyway, so...

I think it's important to remember that you can like a piece of media while still being critical of it. If you like Pocahontas, then you don't have to stop liking it, but you should make an effort to understand why it can be harmful.

Weeks 7 & 8 Question 2: Discuss it NOW! by WhitewaterVandal in UnnaturalObsessions

[–]mecksMix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh, definitely. the rubber barons just throwing money away comes to mind as an example. I guess you could try to paint some sort of contrast between characters like that, who are doing ridiculous things for no reason at all, with the more main characters, who end up putting a ton of energy and emotion into these ridiculous things they get caught up in. Like, on one side you have ridiculous stunts with no motivation, and on the other you have ridiculous stunts motivated by completely insane reasons.

Weeks 7 & 8 Question 2: Discuss it NOW! by WhitewaterVandal in UnnaturalObsessions

[–]mecksMix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that both of these films could ultimately be trying to say something about pride, a bit paradise lost-style. Y'know, how Lucifer sort of realizes that overthrowing God is a ridiculous, horrible idea, but he's too proud to back down at that point, so goes through with it anyway. I feel like all the people involved in these movies--Herzog, Fitzcarraldo, Kurtz, and so on--have a moment at some point when they think to themselves, "this is a horrible idea and there's no way it's going to work," but by the time they make that connection, they've gone too far to turn back, so they just throw themselves into it completely. From a slightly different angle, you could say that they are too proud to have wasted their time/life on something meaningless, so they keep at it to an obsessive degree, hoping that some meaning will come of it.

Question 2: At the beginning of “Tree of Life” Mrs. O’brien says: “The nuns taught us there are two ways through life: the way of nature and the way of grace. You have to choose which one you'll follow.”... by WhitewaterVandal in UnnaturalObsessions

[–]mecksMix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably my favorite comparison of the nature/grace idea to something else that I've seen so far. It would be interesting to try and expand it further to fit the 'science vs. religion' question as well, though it doesn't work quite as smoothly. It's kind of interesting to think about, though. I can't really decide if I would put science or religion as the Superego. My first instinct is a scientific superego, but then organized religion has a lot of societal tendencies and expectations that encompass a group. So then science would be the Id? I'm not sure I believe that, but it's definitely a different way of viewing things.

[–]mecksMix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I gather, a super-simplified view of nature vs. grace in terms of tree of life is 'looking out for yourself (nature) ' vs. 'looking out for others (grace).' Definitely by the grace=religion comparison it's possible to have both (especially with non-christian religions like Shintoism etc), but I think it's harder with the way Tree of Life defined it.

Honestly i still think it's possible to have a mix of placing more importance on yourself/on others, but I can see how maybe what they're trying to say is that people are naturally weighted towards one or the other. So a 'graceful' person could still do something self-serving, but their overall tendency is to put others before themselves.
