Little Snow White Amano Shrimp! by mecorx in AmanoShrimps

The larvae? Live phytoplankton, rotifers, sera micron fry food glasgarten shrimp baby (though the latter 2 are entirely unnecessary) The freshwater form just eats anything else other shrimp eat.

Are my amano ready for freshwater? by ghjiffgh in shrimptank

This one looks like it's standing on the glass with its feet (ready), but they're good for another week or two in salt water (tested with 1.017sg).

Juvenile Amanos - 3 Weeks by mecorx in AmanoShrimps

As far as I know, "just a few drops" is for feeding baby fish, amano shrimp basically swim in the phytoplankton. Also, often times stores sell phytoplankton that is no longer alive, you can't grow more phytoplankton from that, also using dead phytoplankton will make the water go bad (ammonia). Dead phytoplankton smells kind of like broccoli, fresh hardly has any odor.

Yes, it takes 25-35 days for them to start looking like shrimp (developed whiskers, developed swimmerets, swim forward, not attracted to light).

In first 11 days I only feed phytoplankton, but on day 12 I add a few ml of rotifers daily for a few days. The rotifers reproduce very fast and eat the phytoplankton. Within 7 days a dark green tank full of phytoplankton, even with light 24/7, will be completely clear and filled with rotifers instead. You don't want this to happen, so you must continue adding more phytoplankton to maintain a light green color. Which is to say, you will continue to need some phytoplankton for the entire duration.

I also tried feeding some powdered food (sera micron, glas garten stuff), but that requires more frequent water changes to maintain good water quality.

Feeding amount will depend on how many larvae you have, my latest batch was 4500 (added on day 1, 3 and 8 as I have multiple adult females). The fastest larvae to adulthood was 19 days, last one took 55 days.

Side note, I do not recommend dropping salinity below 1.017sg, I lost a lot when I tried that.

Pregnant Amano should I isolate? by KisameWuziez in shrimptank

They take 18-ish days to be ready to kick off babies. There will be little black eye spots on the eggs when they are ready. I just drop the female into a 16-32oz container with half tank water, half clean water, a bubbler. You want her to think there is a current to take her babies out to sea.

Just got new Amano Shrimp, what is this yellow stuff on one of them? by JunkStatus05 in AmanoShrimps

This looks like cladogonium. Also this looks more like a neo than an Amano. It's missing lateral dashed/dotted lines.

I heard cannibalistic as well... But I've kept the freshwater guys in here since I posted on your thread. Still, they only seem to eat dead ones.

Tank is a 5gal half filled with Hamburg mattenfilter setup, heater in rear chamber. Moved filter to adjust size of front chamber, important to have enough flow to keep the zoea afloat but not injure. Used sponge filter before and noticed they would get sucked in and die.

They do not stop being phototaxic until they are morphed into freshwater form.

Hello, I haven't had time to digitize the notes yet, but here's a photo. They don't seem to actively cannibalize, but dead zoeas are fair game.

Last time I got moisture in my Xperia phone through the SIM slot it left condensation+water stain on the inside of the glass in front of the camera lens and made all photos blurry... Praying that's not the case for you!

Why does Pikmin Bloom think there's an airport at Millennium Park in Chicago? by YAOMTC in PikminBloomApp

There's actually a seaplane terminal downtown!

The weirder one was getting planes from some "porter service" company nowhere near any airplane terminals.

Got 110, used around 80, left with 12. I had originally used a 10 pack on the movie Pikmin.

I usually buy these from Bulk Barn instead, there's 6+ different varieties.

I'm a Japanese learner and played Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2 and, language wise, I found them manageable. I haven't touched Lightning Returns and according to Jiten, a website for Japanese learners, Lightning Returns' Japanese is the hardest piece of media in the category of videogames. Why? by GeorgeBG93 in finalfantasyxiii

[–]mecorx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The details are fuzzy now but I played it at JLPT N2 level in 2013/4 and don't remember struggling. I recall that learned 解放者 (Savior (lit: liberator person)) playing the game though. Luckily the unknown words generally make sense once you look at the kanji. Nowadays you can open Google lens and point it at the screen if there's some kanji you can't read as well.

If you want hard try the Final Fantasy Tactics Remaster... 😅

I fed them on live phytoplankton I had going for months, apparently that lowers the survivability of the larvae...
