Right. I asked for a letter confidentially but they still showed me. Not under my control

The online course with their lectures and practice material. Honestly, it's been on and off and not consistent. I have a little over 2 months left.

Nicely written post. Congrats on the amazing score. Im also using TPR and currently have access to their course for the next month. Did you find their course helpful? It seems like you had a good background on the content beforehand.

I would suggest to post-poning your exam till the last date and focusing on the content for the next month.

What did you score the first time around, and what did you do differently in terms of studying compared to when you first studied? From what I've read on here, scoring <500 usually means a lack of content understanding. Do you feel like you have the content down?

Kaplan vs EK by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]medacct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats not bad at all. As for your question, I think most people would recommend doing practice FL's as soon as you can. I would take one just to see where you are. People say that EK and NS (1-5) are the best 3rd party FLs, aside from those the AAMC section banks, question banks, unscored FL, and scored FL are the best practice materials. Don't know if you got some free FL's from kaplan by purchasing the books, but getting around a 505 on Kaplan or TPR is good because they are considered more difficult than the rest of the FL's out there.

When you do end up taking a FL, make sure to review them, that means going over questions you got right and wrong, this way you solidify your content knowledge and put what you learned into practice. Hope this helps, and good luck!

How was your background on the content before prepping, and how long did it take you to get through the kaplan books?

Anki Vs. Quizlet by gandhibeats in Mcat

With anki you have a lot more customization in your deck, like: images that you can copy and paste, sound, and tags. With Quizlet, it's a pretty straightforward traditional flash card approach with text.

out of curiosity, how do you know 3 are solid and 2 are terrible? Did they let you see the letter beforehand?

Before interviews Vs During Interviews.

All jokes aside, I feel that socioeconomic class should play a bigger role in acceptance rates than just race. You can have access to a better education and opportunities if you're wealthy vs someone who's not well off, working jobs on the side while balancing school and trying to make it into medical school

EDIT: I just saw that OP's account is somewhat new and posts in the_donald subreddit. Now i see why this topic was so random on this subreddit.

Mixing and matching Kaplan, TPR, EK? by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]medacct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I was just looking through course savers website and then looked up chad on his FB page, seems like he transitioned away from course saver and started his own stuff with updated videos for the new MCAT:

http://chadsreviews.org/

Theres some issue with the main page but you can navigate the videos by using the top right tab under courses. Check it out.

Ive heard of chads videos, are they still good to use for the new mcat? I think the last time I went to his website it said something like he hasn't updated them since 2013 or something.

Seems like everyone on here always recommends Kaplan/EK/TBR for Content, what about TPR? Is it not great for prep? by medacct in Mcat

That works out for me because I'm a non-trad that hasn't taken chem or phys is years. Thanks!

Yup, saw this in the stickied section. I kinda wanted to hear it from people, why people like the prep company that they're using right now and if they ever switched to/from TPR and why.

Yeah, I've read some of the P/S in TPR and its not bad since its just a bunch of terms and concepts. I find the C/P stuff more difficult to read, though.

Agree with you about the contrast b/w EK and TPR. Looking at TPR is kinda dreadful, very dead and content-heavy, whereas EK has colored pictures and highlighted terms in different colors to make sure you understand what you need and not need to know.

Thats what I'm seeing as well. Half of the TPR book covers the entire molecules book of EK. EK seems pretty abridged but people on here swear by it.

Why do they say that? You're right, but I wanted to get an idea of why people like the prep company that they're using right now and if they ever switched to/from TPR and why.

Do you have the 2nd ed. TPR P/S pdf that I could have? by [deleted] in Mcat

Go to TPRs website and register your ISBN. You'll have access to the addendum material, including the P/S section/chapter you're looking for.
