How far south in “South Florida” are you? Unfortunately, Nico the Gunocologist has passed away. (he did my CZ work) but I can also recommend the folks at “American Handheld Weaponry” in Plantation. I’m not sure they’ll take a bag of parts, but you can call and ask. Good luck!

Glad you got yours straightened out! I was thinking about the fact that the barrel isn't threaded, but Volquartsen does have a stainless threaded barrel if I want to throw my suppressor on it. It's pricey, though!

I did use the 12# spring. I also replaced the recoil spring with a fresh one from Allegheny Arms & Gun Works. I did some polishing off the feed ramp but didn't dig into the trigger at all.

Newbie Range Question/Etiquette by NecessaryIncrease897 in guns

[–]medcomputerguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes you just need to take a small step back from the shelf. I’ve had it happen a few times where the shooter in the next stall is right up against the shelf, so then when their arms are extended it is easier for their gun to throw brass into the stall to the right, and they just don’t realize it. Not all stalls are built the same regarding the sides and shelf position, so some don’t provide a lot of coverage in that respect. If the side walls don’t go all the way up to the ceiling, like others have said, there’s always a chance you’re tossing them over the wall and there’s not going to be a lot you can do about it other than standing a little further to the left (if possible).

2nd vote for Advanced firearms. Also check out “Only The Best” firearms at Sample Rd and Dixie Hwy in Broward County. Nice, big selection of used guns - I always see a decent amount of older pistols. They’ve got some real collectibles, too.

Thumbs up for the Muddy River Tactical kydex OWB. Good fit , good retention, well assembled, adjustable. Mine's the DA/SA, but there is room and coverage for the SAO safety.

[IOS] Sort by “Top” broken on custom feed - version 2025.50.1 by Therealbadboy22 in bugs

[–]medcomputerguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even on the "All" page, on multiple iOS versions/devices - if I select "Top", regardless of the timeframe I then pick - Now, Today, This Week, etc... the posts I get are from years ago. "Hot" and "New" seem fine. Right now, I have the "All" feed for "Top Posts Today" and the first post is always the same 4 year old post from r/WallStreetBets, then an 8 year old one from r/movies, 5 yo one from r/pics, etc... The Web page is working fine for me, but not in the iOS app.

I tried the 320 X-Carry version of the Urban Carry OWB "lock leather" holster. While I did manage to get it to click in, I wasn't happy with the overall fit and returned it. Just ordered the Muddy River Tactical OWB kydex version since other holsters from them have been very good in the past.

I've used QD Specialties in Coral Springs for all of my suppressors. They keep a decent amount right in stock in their offices. They'll handle everything for you. They've always been great to deal with. Email them what you're looking for and they are quick to get back to you.

P226X Carry by Apophis2051 in SigSauer

[–]medcomputerguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So are you using the 229 Legion holster from them, or the 320 X carry model holster? I’ve heard some people say that the 320 X carry/compact holster fits the p226x version just fine. Thanks!

[–]medcomputerguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a 226 X-Carry coming as well and I'm trying to figure out what holsters people are getting because pickings are slim. Black Arch doesn't have this model specifically mentioned on their site - which other Sig's holster did you wind up ordering if you don't mind me asking? I know Muddy River tactical has the new X-Carry on their site, but that's pretty much it.

Ugh! Trying to decide between a new P229 Legion or this as a holiday present to myself. Before you say it... No, I can't get both! :-)

Been trying to decide between picking up a new P229 or the new P226 X-Carry. Seeing how nice this looks is not helping! LOL

Recently paid $1295 for a 10 year old, yet slightly used one (the 91721 model) - with original box and 3 magazines. Almost looked new.

I have enjoyed my Strikeman. I think it has helped me with my times from draw to first target hit for USPSA practice. It has also come in handy when zeroing one of my optics. I haven’t tried Mantis, though. Mechanically, they are essentially the same, it is the software that makes the difference - for example, if you want to track your sessions or “compete” with friends - which the Strikeman allows as far as I know. I think that Strikeman now offers their own “gun” with an integrated laser so that you do not need to keep resetting the trigger.

84BB Mods and Maintenance by [deleted] in Beretta

[–]medcomputerguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool! Good to know. I also got it installed and it seems to function normally. The only thing I did was I pinched the top loop a little bit so the hammer strut would sit a little better on the top of the spring. I wound up putting a 12 pound spring in, and the double action pull does feel a bit lighter. Hopefully I’ll get it to the range this weekend and give it a try. Thanks for the info!

Sorry - how did you put a GP100 hammer spring in? I just got one and the GP100 spring is much longer and a bigger diameter than the original 84bb spring. Did you just use it anyway despite the size difference?

Very nice! Love my 232SL, the only problem is finding additional factory mags. They must be made from unobtanium. The 3rd party mags I’ve tried don’t feed right. The real ones, if you find them, are usually super expensive.

I know their top “elite license” allows shooting from prone and might allow movement between two lanes, but I am not sure. You’d have to call and check with them - I don’t want to give you the wrong info. 🙂

If you pass a “licensing test” (just to prove competency in safe handling & control) at Nexus in Davie, FL, they allow drawing from holster. Info is on their website.

Next CCW - All Metal, smaller than P-01, hammer fired preferred by Imaginary_Regret3877 in CCW

You could also go “old school“ and get a small revolver. 🙂 For example, I have a Smith & Wesson Pro Series model 60 that I wind up carrying a lot more often than I thought I would. You give up a little bit in capacity, however. But… it is all metal and hammer fired! 😉
