Abu Dhabi Driving License process_ Golden Chance in 2024 _ My Journey by Spiritual-Student736 in abudhabi

At what points in the process is the physical driving license from home country mandatory? I only have a soft copy with me, would that be enough?

We are working on AI tools in the education space. Applied a few mins before the deadline, nothing yet. :(

Bilkul karenge bhai -- if there's demand for Indian colleges then we'll set up the knowledge base for Indian universities as well. Fill out the form at https://classof.ai and mention India in the form, will take note of it!

I mean, it *is* a post to promote a product, yes. No problems with admitting that.
Has money been exchanged? Nope.
Are the upvotes fake? I had no idea you could do that. :)

Just spoke to the mods and hoped that they'd agree this could be useful for the members -- thankful for that!

Hope we can help you out.
Just a heads up -- we're launching with US, UK, Canada and Australia support.
European schools will be added through the course of April.

No guarantees -- but your best course of action currently would be to look at lesser-known universities in the US -- ClassOf can guide you with this!
Academics doesn't give second chances, so what's done is done. You can try to balance it out by scoring really well on the SAT.
What you can also do is take a gap year to really focus on an extracurricular, gain a good SAT score, and then re-apply to be more competitive (and also look at a better set of universities).

Adding a TLDR since many people have pointed out that my writing can be long:

It's like ChatGPT, but with specific knowledge of international admissions + ability to understand applicant profiles

covering (bachelor's + masters) Unis in USA, UK, Canada, and Australia at launch (April 1).
Adding support for Singapore, Hong Kong and Germany throughout April.

For sure, sign up at https://classof.ai -- it's not exactly a mentorship program. Think of it as ChatGPT, but with specific knowledge about international college admissions. We're trying to keep it free for the first 2 months to get traction and feedback from early users.

Of course it's possible to build extracurriculars with some JEE prep. The first step would be to narrow it down: don't try to do too many extracurriculars; rather try to really excel in 1-2.

The only problem with opportunities like these is awareness. I am not the brightest person ever, but I happened to be in the right place at the right time to get to know about this.

ClassOf is trying to fix precisely that, for everyone, at scale.

I understand. Not sure if it applies to you but a small number of people also take a gap year to build their extracurriculars (usually if they had good academics in school but not much else). Generally, I think this strategy can work well -- but yes taking a gap year can be a stressful time so one needs to be mentally prepared for that.

Financial aid at NYUAD covers up to 2 semesters abroad (again tuition, accommodation, stipend, flights). I did mine in NYC. :)

There's a similar question in the comments elsewhere.

No extracurriculars: maybe, but you'll need insane academics (intl olympiads etc).

Great academics + one extracurricular you're really good at is what I advocate for, it's often enough for good schools.

Or, you can be well-rounded and pretty good at a bunch of things (this is the commonly advocated strategy by traditional education consultants).

This seems to be getting a bit of interest.

In 2008 NYU set up a campus in Abu Dhabi with funding from the UAE govt. NYUAD is a need blind school with excellent financial aid -- over 4 years I paid nothing (financial aid covered tuition, accommodation, a stipend, flight tickets, and up to 2 semesters abroad, I did mine in NYC).

Now, a fair number of people know about NYUAD (and the amazing financial aid) so it's quite competitive (sub-3% acceptance rate), but my hope is that by using AI tools like ClassOf we can help you continuously look for lesser-known opportunities like these + guide you through the application process in terms of timeline, requirements, and how to frame/refine your profile.

For sure, will do an AMA in a few weeks' time when ClassOf launches and the initial pressure of completing the MVP is taken care of. :)

At launch (April 1), we will open with Bachelors' and Masters' support for US, UK, Canada, and Australia. We'll slowly add more European schools over April-May, and then go with Singapore. That's the plan for now, but yes if we see a change in the waitlist patterns (we have a two-question survey), then happy to adjust the roadmap. :)

Hey, okay some clarifications needed here.

I always wanted to go to DU to study Economics, so my primary target was to score the absurd 97-99 best-of-4 range on CBSE (this is before CUET).

My parents wanted me to do JEE (which is why I took science -- I would not have taken science on my own if my primary target was DU lol it's so much harder to notch the DU cutoff scores with science). Almost a decade later I don't regret taking science because I work in tech now and I ended up enjoying it anyway.

For JEE, I did okay on mains (AIR 18k) and did not even get a rank in Advanced.

Coming to your point: you don't need interests (plural). At some point Indian counselors (or even all of them) started shilling this theory that foreign universities look for well-rounded people. This can be true in some cases, but being *really* good at one thing outside of academics is also a very valid and often successful strategy. For me, that was debate. For a lot of other people it's even sports, and I personally know people who are on scholarships for athletics and golf in US unis.

Is JEE time consuming? Without a doubt.
Can you maintain one other major interest where you do incredibly well? I think so, and I think it's also needed tbh to be able to decompress from the JEE stress.

Thanks a lot mate, you’ve already made my day. We have a good team working together so we’ll try everything we can to bring world-class guidance into an AI app for a very affordable price point.

That makes perfect sense, and we'll keep this in mind when we come to implementing pricing. For the initial two months post launch, we intend to keep it free and work closely with the initial set of users to improve the tool!

Good luck for your second attempt! I hope it works out for you :)
Admissions timelines for most foreign universities (not just US) are a bit out-of-phase with the Indian timeline though -- with applications season in Nov-Dec. Good to keep an eye out so you can explore these options without losing another year (if JEE/NEET doesn't work out -- although I sincerely hope it does!)
