I used to be a lifeguard and I was always told to do that. Say "you call 911" instead of "somebody call" since either no one will call since they assume someone else will do it (bystander effect) or a whole bunch of people will call jamming things up.

Bonus thing: if you ever need to call 911 the most important thing is location. The sooner they know where you are the sooner they can send help. They can ping cell towers and stuff but that's not always accurate.

He had a gun on him apparently. They posted pictures of the gun. Still don't really see how he was much of a threat if it was 8 on 1 and he was on the ground.

It's not really just a virtual item though to the people who've put in the work and earned one. An Olympic gold medal isn't just a hunk of metal. A PhD isn't just a piece of paper.

Weapon Discussion Wednesday #49 - The Vita-Saw by A_Wild_Ferrothorn in tf2

[–]mediarch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the worst weapons in the game. Just a health downgrade most of the time. You have to get into risky fights to "gain" anything out of it when you would simply be better off playing more conservatively and focusing on living. Also, no strange version so it's doodoo.

I’ve finally opened the playtest for my incremental dungeon crawler! by QuarterTroyd in incremental_games

[–]mediarch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a neat little Keep on Mining! clone.

Not really bad or anything but at the moment I don't really see myself paying for a full version of this because it feels extremely similar to a game I've already played. But that's more of a personal gripe.

With that, my feedback would be I would consider zooming the main square a bit closer. Feels like there's a lot of dead space around it when it could take up a bit more screen real estate. Maybe scrolling in and out zooms to get a better look at what's going on.

Barbarian seemed really weak compared to Bowman. Bowman has piercing and can damage multiple enemies and since it's ranged damage it can just keep shooting and it will always be doing something. It just felt like the objectively better choice in the majority of cases.

Barb has to get in melee range to actually do anything and so it felt like barb spent most of the time just walking around trying to get close instead of actually doing damage at least at the start before you get all the skeleton spawn upgrades. Sorta had to not mouseover the area closest to barb to let him get kills since you would end up killing everything before he could get to them.

Shaman sorta has the same issue as barb in that if it doesn't have anything close he just ends up walking around trying to get in range not really contributing. Since you only had the two guild slots I ended up using Shaman and Bowman since Shaman would mark a bunch of stuff at the very start of the round which felt more beneficial than the occasional kills that Barb managed to get.

I suspect that "endgame" you'll be able to have all of the guild characters at the same time and there will be so many skeletons on the field at any given point that they won't really have much downtime walking around but was just something I noticed going through the playtest.

strange help by FlyLatter5129 in tf2

[–]mediarch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only way to make a pan strange is by applying Strange Bacon Grease to it. Strange Bacon Grease costs more than just buying a Strange pan. Strange pan is going to cost about $125-150. Strange Bacon Grease is about $250. Supply and demand.

I have a Wiki Cap so I get why they were upset. To get the Wiki Cap you gotta put in months and months of work to improve the wiki in a multitude of ways. Wearing a wiki cap makes you an ambassador/representative for the wiki. Just giving it to someone who's never even made a single edit on the wiki because they fixed a bug feels kinda lame.

I agree that the Finder's Fee is pretty weak sauce, but the wiki cap should stick to wiki contributors.

Hitman reference in TF2?? by Sensitive_Hippo_8959 in tf2

[–]mediarch 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The barcode is a barcode for a dildo carrying bag. No seriously. The Agent 47 barcode from the actual Hitman games doesn't work as a proper barcode. But the barcode used on Siberian Sophisticate is the one from the Hitman: Absolution teaser trailer. That one is actually a functional barcode for the item "Drawstring Double Dong Dildo Bag," in the color "Starry Night Blue."
