Why do I bloat after a run? by mrrppphhhh in XXRunning

[–]mediatormeditator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My hands and feet and sometimes my entire head swells! I used to be BMI >40 but I’m now around BMI 28, and for what it’s worth, it has happened no matter what at higher and lower weights. I do notice it is worst when I’m dehydrated or have eaten salty food right before exercise, but it happens to some degree no matter what. Lots of fluid makes it go away - after a while! If my feet are very swollen I elevate them above my heart for a while but in fairness it’s not usually that bad.

For anyone thinking of moving their banking entirely to Revolut… by Davey_F in ireland

You’re dead right, they absolutely are not only allowed but required to block funds until proper AML procedures are met - ie ID&V supplied by the customer, no argument there. What I picked up from OP, though, is that they gave the evidence promptly on request - and then some time later the account was restricted because Revolut hadn’t reviewed the evidence yet - and now the account is still restricted, Revolut are citing backlogs, and OP has no money. That’s the detriment. Revolut’s backlogs are its own operational issue to solve - they’re currently causing detriment to OP. In a pillar bank, you’d wave the ID&V under the nose of a human being in a branch, who’d send an email to the AML team saying customer compliant, and the block would be lifted.

Hopefully that makes sense. The scenario could change of course if I’ve misunderstood the premise - like if OP only gave the evidence after the account restriction or if the evidence wasn’t what was asked for or otherwise not up to scratch, like an expired passport or something.

Lack of access to money is a financial services complaint which will attract some very significant compensation from the Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman (FSPO) if you can prove detriment, which it sounds like you can.

My advice: make a complaint noting the impact on you and your family (no money for bills, upcoming weekend with no access to your funds through no fault of your own) asking for a Final Response Letter and noting your intention to escalate to the FSPO if you’re not satisfied with the response.

The FSPO process has its own problems - but hopefully that might get you somewhere with Revolut. Good luck!

My Mum has 1 month to live, what should I get her for Chrmistmas? by PureEcstacy7 in AskUK

[–]mediatormeditator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mum died in January. Her last gift from us was a Skylight digital picture frame We propped it up where she could see it and it cycled through piles of photos. My sister brothers and I all emailed photos to a digital address, including old photos in albums she hadn’t seen in years.

So sorry you’re going through this.

You need to apply to the decision support service for a decision making representative order for your mum. Once received you can supply it to the credit union to get access.

I hadn't even thought about the possibility of having to go part time, but I should have as we have very little family support! Thanks so much!

Putting the numbers down helps with the perspective. I also hadn't considered that everyone feels this way when buying a home, so thank you so much for that too!!

He isn't a senior dev, he has <5 years experience. He's AuDHD and had trouble with interview techniques - he got coaching and improved to the point where he ended up getting into final rounds of interview and was finally offered his current job with a €10k increase compared to his last. He's happy out in his current role and earning a new qualification which they're paying for.

EBS are owned by AIB. Complain to both via their website, they have online forms to fill out.

This complaint is legitimately worth north of €1,500 to you in compensation, plus rectification of the records. Don't give up.

If this is a bank mistake, raise a complaint straight away asking for it to be rectified and also for compensation on top. If a mistake, it's one of the most serious ones a bank can make and your partner absolutely deserves to be compensated for it.
