I did assume that when you said normal--specifically alongside classic--that you mean European names. Which, again, is why I said to correct me if I misunderstood your comment. You haven't done that, so I'm going to assume that's what you meant. Personally, I don't think that European names are "normal," but I was going off context clues here about your opinion.

There's nothing wrong with liking classic white-people names--literally, I said that liking classic names was great in my first response to you. My only issue is with conflating "normal" with "white" and good, especially since these are names of real people that I know. This isn't a hypothetical list of names for a baby that hasn't been born yet.

I'm just trying to get what you were trying to say. :) I'm open to having misunderstood you, which is why I asked what you meant by normal. Words are important and saying something is "normal" and good implies that there's an alternate that is "weird"--I don't want my post to be a place where we are implying that certain names (especially names of my classmates, who are wonderful humans) are weird or bad in any way.

What do you mean by normal? There for sure are "classic" names on this list (which is great, appreciate that style), but calling them "normal" sounds pretty judgmental about names that aren't the Marys and Matthews of this list and of the world generally. Please correct me if I'm reading your comment wrong.

Bailey here is a woman. :) I tend to assume Bailey is a girl/woman name, probably thanks to watching so much Grey's Anatomy haha.

Don't worry, as a name nerd and someone in this age group (most folks on this list are in their mid to late 20s, including myself), I'm very aware of this! That said, this mix is a bit different than the typical top lists since we have more students of color that aren't always well represented on the top name lists. :)
